One Million PS3s Already Pre-ordered? |
Listed in: PS3 Tags: Berlin, Germany, North America, playstation 3 updates, Sony
Ó
Over at Blu-ray.com, we've gotten an interesting piece of information about the status of PS3 pre-order. To date, a total of one million PS3 units have been pre-ordered. This was brought up in relation to the Blu-ray and HD-DVD coverage of Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) 2006. Its the world's largest electronics and IT show, which was held from September 1-6, 2006 in Berlin, Germany.
The site also covered other brands that also have Blu-ray features in their products. It's not clear whether the numbers refer to the pre-orders in North America or worldwide. One thing's for sure though, demand for the PS3 is never an issue. The question is whether this demand will be met come launch time. In one of our articles, Sony's representatives said a total of 1.2 million PS3s are expected to hit US and Japanese markets by the end of December.

They also declared how the PS3 had more Pre-Orders 4 months before launch than the PS2 had in total.
I can find the interview for you but it will take time =\

Also nobody has bought one yet, these are pre-orders, not buying numbers, you should know that it's not retailing yet. Idiot.

and to people who thinks that consumers are just buying the PS3 just because for their movie capability and entertainment (Blu-ray) you guys are definitely mistaken. for me, its the capacity of blu-ray why i want it to be a part of PS3 and not the other way around. its just a bonus material that it can play a movie.
do you know that Microsoft supports the Blu-ray before. i have read it in one of the article their name a long time ago. now the reason why they went back and use DVD is for them to launch early. thats the only reason i see why they do it. so its BS saying that they want their consumer to spend extra money were in the first they are one of the companies who support blu-ray instead of HD-DVD. when they announced that they are not supporting Blu-ray thats when i knew that they will never be #1 this coming next-gen wars.

im sick of tired of excuses were game developer take out some feautures in the game and then insert it again after 2 to 3 yrs just like NBALIVE from EA. and they make a poll asking where do you want us to focus..graphics, game features, or motion capture. WHY NOT ALL OF THEM right? atleast NBA2K do all things that the consumer ask as long as they can do it. no limitations. you can only achieve if they use blu-ray disk. they have to get up a notch and not be content in their COMFORT ZONE. thats why IMHO blu-ray will never fail.

i live in Los Angeles, and so far, no one is taking pre-orders.
what's funny, is that i went to EB (*shudder*. it was a weak moment. i couldn't help myself), and asked the clerk if they were taking pre-orders for the PS3 yet. he told me not until the end of the month, or October, or something like that, then proceded to try and sell me on the Wii, while eyeballing my fiance as if she would rather play the Wii instead (she actually wants an X Box 360, and a PS3. she has very little interest in the Wii, and is content with her Gamecube. she's getting the 360, and i'm getting the PS3. piece of advice to others out there: having a significant other that loves gaming rocks. please find one, asap).
i can't wait to see what the pre-order numbers will be over here in the states. i know at the very least that my friends are interested in purchasing one.
also, the gamestore across the street was taking names and phone numbers of people who wanted the PS3. me and my friend got put on the list, but we were at the very bottom of the page, so that's about 30 or 40 down. like i said in a post on joystiq, there are over 100 million Playstation 2 owners out there, i'm sure Sony could manage to find 500,000 that will gobble them up on launch day in the US and Japan, and 800,000 more when they manage to produce that many.

My current girl likes racing games but starts to lose interest as soon as I begin beating her so I let her win most of the time. It might be fun for her but then I get bored.
Figboy you lucky gamer, does your girl have an early twenties sister living in New York City who has a passion for Final Fantasy, Halo, and Age of Empires? aka my soulmate.

BUT, 1-million in Europe alone, that is very impressive.

Delayed or not delayed, over priced or not.. the PS3 will still outsell the competition whether you like it or not.
So either buy one or get over it.. coz no1 cares...
