Hot on the heels of the latest news tidbit spreading across the internet, Penny Arcade's Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins opted to make a comic reflecting the... is there even a remotely journalistic term for "Oh snap?"

Yesterday, a host of different gaming blogs reported on EGM's latest issue, in which Sony's Jack Tretton defended the PS3. In this interview with EGM, everyone took notice of one of Tretton's statements , which said, "If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North America that's been on shelves for more than five minutes, I'll give you 1,200 bucks for it."

EGM mentions that the interview was done in early January, however, so if anyone wanted to actually claim that much money from Mr. Tretton, they'd have to get photographic evidence of unsold PS3s during the timeframe the interview was pegged in.

Enter Penny Arcade's biting wit. The above is a portion of the latest comic written by the PA pair, which would hypothetically make them US$ 13,200 richer. As we said in the previous article, expect Tretton's comment to get its proper spin (from the other side of the fence) very soon. For now, feel free to leave a comment and visit Penny Arcade's latest comic.

» See, the ps3 on ground and behind customer service counter on the ground doesn't count.

i've never seen ps3 on shelve at all, only on ground.

by the way, what about 20gb ps3? does it mean that we get 1200usd too if we spot some?

» whocares about those places? thats what i think he emant

i live in NYC and im dying to get a ps3 and every store i goto always tells me they arent in stock etc. Last time i saw ps2's in stock at my local gamestop their was a line going right out the store. Although it is easier to find 1 now and im sure i could find 1 if i went out my way stopping by every gamsetop i can find its still alittle difficult to get a hold of 1 its not like i can walk into any store and they have 500 ps3's....so his coment does hold truth to it because who cares if people arent buying them in kentucky or ohio? does anyone even live there?

» wow

» Low Sales

Desperation is the word that comes to mind when they have to lower themselves to this.

» PS3 = Dodo

Well they are being outsold 3 to 1 in Japan by the WII so why dont they try and unload some of these non selling Dodos in Japan to the USA ?,

by scarface_tha_second - 2007-02-11 08:03
» sigh

Just because they are being outsold doesn't mean they are not selling out.

» Because...

He was talking out his ass, and PA just busted him on it....

No big surprise, Sony loves lying and bending the truth to make them seem better then they are...

» very desperate indeed

If sony couldn't lie and bend the truth as good as they do (which isn't done very well anyway) and they had to make their PS3's capabilities speak for themselves, they would be in big trouble. What's the PS3 good for so far? I tried to come up with some reasons:

Watch up to 25 different blu ray movies, few of which are worthy of being in HD.

Play one good game and another 20 half assed ports.

Half assed Linux that doesn't come close to replacing a computer.

Nice shiny console looks great sitting on top of the useful AV components in the entertainment center

People can say "wow I have a PS3"

People can say "when these 3 great exclusive games I know nothing about come out PS3 will sell like hotcakes."

Am I missing something or are people that dumb?

I'm totally used to retarded statments by sony's CEOs and PR reps. The sad thing is the PS3 fans defend these BS statments or just ignore them.

» I can't find on either!

I never go into a store or shop online though, lol.

» Ebay

Why dont they ask al the people that are trying to sell them on ebay. you can get them for far less than retail on ebay because all of those bastards that tried to mark them up are now very eager to get rid of them.

by Lurker - 2007-02-12 04:45
» And your Point is????

Too bad that the PS3 was sitting on shelves and not selling in Jan either. You could buy the PS3 on Xmas eve FFS. The only time the PS3 was sold out, was at launch day. But 50% of those were returned after not being able to sell them on ebay.
