Today Activision released the latest and official Tony Hawk's Project 8 fact sheet. The game is scheduled for release this Fall on pretty much every console except for the Wii - they'll have their own version (Downhill Jam). If you really want to know, it's for the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, Xbox and PS2. The game will feature "...new gameplay mechanics, Tony HawkÂ’s Project 8 challenges fans with the most goals ever in a Tony Hawk game."

You'll have a movie mode in which you go with a filmmaker and have to follow his instructions. And, for the first time ever, players must impress in-game citizens and pedestrians to build up respect. The pedestrians watch you perform tricks, laugh at brutal bails and punch you in the gut for knocking into them. Promising.

Here's the fact sheet fresh from Activision:

Product Description:
Re-engineered from the ground up for Sony and MicrosoftÂ’s next-generation consoles, Tony HawkÂ’s Project 8 immerses players in the definitive skateboarding experience using ultra-realistic graphics, enhanced physics and extremely responsive controls that simulate the feeling of skating with every trick and bail. The game challenges players to experience the intensity and pressure of skating against some of the worldÂ’s top pros in true to life competitions as they aim to become the #1 skater and establish their town as a skateboard destination. Delivering continuous skating action in a free-roaming living environment, Tony HawkÂ’s Project 8 incorporates the seriesÂ’ most popular features, all of which have been enhanced with next-generation technology.

Comment from a 21 year old SKATER

Ok, let me start of by saying that Tony Hawk Pro Skater is the only skate game out there to continue on making titles. Therefore they are responsible for making the standards of what should be a skate game. I am tired of doing 720 backflips to smith grinds and ending up doing combos for 5 min!!! That is not skateboarding its ARCADE. Who did not enjoy Amped snowboarding for the fact that you realy take control of your trick. The game should be hard enough to brag to your friends that you finaly mastered the 360 flip...or that you landed that fat 5-0 down a certain hand rail. Sony is bringing up a movement detection device in their Dual shock controllers. USE IT to make your skateboard react to certain movement, therefore controlling the physical motion of the board. Even the joysticks should be used for feet control. SKATEBOARDING is the art of controlling and understanding gravity vis-a-vis your feet movement. THPS is schedual to continue on making titles until 2015. Please come up with something more life like. Its fun to pull double back flips but do I really wana? Also. Make that you can brake your skateboard. Its impossible to land a 50 foot drop and roll away. Come on now!!! Anyways. This title is on its way there. The Film making options in this title should be very interesting. Graphics for the PS3 are awsome (even the shoe laces were moving!!) ACTIVISION - Please make a SKATEBOARD SIMULATION not an arcade game! PLEASE peace

a whole new tony

this game, if you've been watching some of it's trailers, is re-inventing itself completely. With a more realistic and tactile feel. It will be the first tony hawk I've played since the first 2-3 games.

FIRST TIME EVER OMG!!!!!

"And, for the first time ever, players must impress in-game citizens and pedestrians to build up respect. The pedestrians watch you perform tricks, laugh at brutal bails and punch you in the gut for knocking into them. Promising." Have you guys ever played a Tony Hawk game? How about that new gameplay mechanic: GRINDING - where you actually get to grind on surfaces with your skateboard with the revolutionary next-generation directional pad (no more annoying onebutton/joystick hassles for us!).
