Official Gran Turismo 5 steering wheels unveiled |
Listed in: PS3 Tags: gran turismo 5, Logitech, playstation 3 updates, Polyphony Digital, Sony
The first of the two is called the G25 Racing Wheel (LPRC-14500). It's the standard model of a steering wheel for videogames, but unfortunately, the cost might be something out of the ordinary for you. Priced at JPY 10,000, this translates roughly to about US$ 120.

As for the other model, the G27 Racing Wheel (LPRC-13500), it features some more additions such as the "rmp indicator LED", among others. Cost, as you may expect, is higher than the G25's because of said additions. Be ready to whip out JPY 30,000 for this, or some US$ 360.
Priced almost like a console, huh. Well if it's gonna complete your racing experience, then why not. Both models of the racing wheel will be launching simultaneously with Gran Turismo 5 on November 3, 2010.

Um... nope? These have been out for ages now. I either totally misunderstood this article, or the G27 sitting in front of me is from the future! 0_o
The only way I can read this for it to make any sense is that Polyphony Digital are confirming full support for the Logitech wheels. This is great news, but not what the article says. Or maybe they're special editions with the little GT icon? iunno

The G25 was released in December 2007.
The G27 was launched in August 2009 as it's replacement.
