Oddly priced PS3 bundles

Why do they say this word: munnies?


SPOnG got this response from Spony... er, I mean Sony PR:

We're not prepared to comment on 3rd party retail promotions, however, we'd like to reinforce that until the official price, release date and software line-up is announced by SCEE, all dates, prices & details etc. are purely speculative.


Why did they get that? Well they apparently decided to ask about why Littlewoods is pricing Sony software bundles are bit weird. Just to make it a bit more obscure for you guys, we're going to let you do the math. Remember that 1.00 United Kingdom Pound = 1.97804 United States Dollars

The Littlewoods prices are:
  • PS3 60Gb hard drive console plus Motorstorm = £549.00 (you pay £124 for one game)
  • PS3 60Gb hard drive console plus Resistance: Fall of Man and Call of Duty 3 = £609.00 (two games cost £92).
  • PS3 60Gb hard drive console plus Motorstorm and FIFA 2007 = £639.00 (each game costs £107 each)
  • PS3 60Gb hard drive console plus Resistance: Fall of Man, Pimp My Ride, and Rainbow Six: Vegas = £659.00 (each game costs £78 each)
  • PS3 60Gb hard drive console plus Genji 2, Motorstorm, Sonic the Hedgehog and Tony Hawks Project 8 = £699.00 (each game costs £68.50 each)
All of them are a bit mean to the wallet huh?

SPOnG points out that it's best to buy a stand-alone PS3, and then go buy your games; only (even SPOnG is weirded out by this) no stand-alone is listed. Greeeeeat.

but the way it works out is that we wouldnt be paying £124 for one game, because the ps3 alone costs £500. so its only £49 for the game. you have it lucky in america, your only paying about £300 for your ps3!

What there not taking into account is that Littlewoods is primarily a Catalogue ordering service, where you choose to spread the costs etc over a certain amount of time or pay it in one lump sum if you dont have a finance account with them. Being a customer of Littlewoods for over 5 years, i can tell you most of there packages for tv's, consoles, dvd players etc tend to be over priced compared to high street stores.



Wait til Game, Gamestation and places like that release bundle info before comparing prices. Going off an over-priced catalogue isnt the best way to compare

No in the UK the Playstation 3 is priced at £425 for the 60gb bundle and £350 for the 20gb bundle. The only reason it is such a high price in Littlewoods is because littlewoods is a catalouge and allows you to pay either, monthly or weekly, so to do this Littlewoods needs to have some kind of profit from somewhere. So poor people who cannot afford to pay for a console full pay monthly or weekly and end up paying more than average people.
