praying for DL content soon - Image 1

PS3 Oblivion fans: brace yourselves for disappointment. VP of public relations and for Bethesda, Pete Hines, have announced that there won't be any extra downloadable content for it unlike the 360 and PC versions -- at least not yet. According to Hines in an interview with MCV, they weren't given enough information regarding the PS3's online service, hence the absence of that feature come its release next month.

We plan to support downloadable content on PS3, but we couldn't tell you how or when it will be out, because it's not clear how we're going to do that yet... You could point to any number of factors for why that is. Although it's impossible to say which is the better between [Xbox Live and PS3 Online], Xbox Live is easier to implement because we've had a much better sense of it at an earlier stage than with PS3.

Well then, see. That ain't so bad after all. They will have downloadable content for Oblivion, just not yet. So, just keep hanging on there. Just keep it posted here for more updates.

» so what?

Yeah, so what? What's the point in having DLable content on day one? If I buy a game, I play it, then maybe I'll be interested in having some extra levels/quests/maps/items when I'm done The whole point of DLable content is to EXTEND the life of a game.

And Bethesda explained this quite well when they said that the various expansions available for Oblivion on PC/360 wouldn't be adequate for a day-1 release on the PS3...

» Probably going to see if it sells.

If it sells then they will put the content out imo. Weird they say they still dont have direct online plans?!?

There's already and article on this by Chris L. Why do you guys keep on posting the same article twice by 2 different people? Perhaps you should check if the article has already been done or erase the article you've done since there is already another one. If you guys really want to become a professional site like Gamespot.com, you need to start acting like professionals.

They will be releasing the expansion for the PS3 version before the end of the year.

This is the same thing that was said a month ago but reworded.

» incompetent

Lots of other devs have worked on and continue to work on Downloadable content for their PS3 games. Bethesda is just incompetent.

» Incompetent? Obviously...

...you're someone who doesn't understand what Bethesda are saying here!

» Will be dated

The time PS3 owners are done with Oblivion the downloadable content will be old and dated as they should of Eventually released the full addon like the PC and 360 get by then.

it's amazing that we're still hearing about sony not having solid online plans. this should've been sorted out before launch, if not atleast by now.

So they were also slow for the Xbox360, because as far as I know the PC version got add-ons long before they ever touched the Xbox Live market place.
