Nyko presents a new line of PS3 accessories

HDMI cableWe've reported some stuff about Nyko's products for the PS3. There's the Zero controllers, the PS3 Intercooler (which a lot of you found silly because heat really isn't a problem), and other accessories. The one that kind of stands out is the Play Adapter so you can use the Dual Shock controller. Best value (and most useful) in our opinion: the Charge Link.

As part of Nyko's effort to whip up enthusiasm for their new accessories, Nyko revealed their products at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and will offer hands-on demos of all of its PlayStation 3 products. So here are some bits from their press release (and a few comments from us):
  • Charge Link. Charge and play with the controller simultaneously. Extra-long 10 foot cable. Also charges other USB-compliant devices. SRP: $14.99.
  • Dual Charge AC. Dual-USB ports allows two PS3 controllers to be charged simultaneously from any standard wall outlet (included are two Mini USB cables that are four feet long). Added value: can charge other USB devices like digital cameras and MP3 players. SRP: $24.99.
  • Play Adapter. Use PlayStation 2 accessories with the PS3. Experience PlayStation 2 titles with Sony's Dual Shock 2 controller. The adapter can connect your favorite PS2 accessories to the PS3, including racing wheels and guitar controllers. SRP: $14.99.
  • Intercooler. It works with the PS3's internal fans to cool the two heat zones of the PS3 by using five high-efficiency variable-speed fans. It comes in two pieces and matches the lines and glossy surface of PS3. Suggested retail price (SRP) US$19.99 and $29.99 at major retailers.
  • Charge Base. Four SIXAXIS wireless controllers charge simultaneously. The cord is six feet long (we can't stand short cords either). Key feature: doesn't take up any of the console's USB ports. Key benefit: you don't have to leave the system on for extended periods of time while charging. SRP: $39.99.
  • HDMI Cable. For full 1080p video output and great audio quality. Lovely gold connectors (the better to conduct signals with). SRP: $29.99.
  • HD-Link. For gamers without HDMI-enabled televisions. Capable of displaying video signals up to 1080p. And it's eight feet long. SRP: $19.99.
  • Blue Com Wireless Headset. Bluetooth 2.0, battery life of 8 hours, cordless. SRP: $59.99.
"The PlayStation 3 is a console built around the idea of taking gaming to the next level and Nyko is ready to support that ideology with a lineup of innovative accessories for the new console," said Chris Arbogast, Marketing Manager at Nyko.

I am seriously hoping this is true:

"Play Adapter. Use PlayStation 2 accessories with the PS3. Experience PlayStation 2 titles with Sony's Dual Shock 2 controller. The adapter can connect your favorite PS2 accessories to the PS3, including racing wheels and guitar controllers. SRP: $14.99."

If that accessory is released I will have no need of my old ps2 anymore. The only reason my ps2 is still downstairs is because of DDR.

Monster cables are retardedly overpriced. Sure they use to quality product to make their cables but they're still known for overpricing.

The Nyko ones ($30) will do fine.

Also, these products actually look rather impressive and usefull.

Hey Nyko the PS3 is the none add-on driven system and the 360 is. We don't need a cooling fan; I play mine for hours and no freezing or anything. If 360 had Resistance with 40 players online it would need for fans than that.

(watch the trolls come) (stop reading PS3 news!)

the only useless piece of accessory in that list is the intercooler. the PS3 doesn't get hot like that. even after extended playtimes, our PS3 isn't a scorchfest. it's barely warm, and mainly by the vents where the hot air is being pushed out of the system.

other than that, this stuff sounds good, and looks reasonably priced.
