Nyko PS3 Intercooler - Image 1Game console accessory manufacturer Nyko has just released news that they have begun shipping their PS3 Intercooler. Previously announced last year, this new cooling fan attachment will hopefully serve to keep Sony's notoriously hot (how to take the connotation is up to you) PS3 in check. Among its noted features:
  1. Increase air flow and reduces heat throughout the PlayStation 3
  2. Clip-on assembly for easy installation
  3. Improved protection for internal circuitry of the PS3
  4. Cooler temperatures mean extended life and reliability
We imagine that PS3 owners in some of the world's more tropical climates will find this news most refreshing, although to the PS3's merit, we haven't really been picking up reports of the unit overheating. Nyko's PS3 Intercooler attachment will go for US$ 29.99 at local retailers.

The casing for the intercooler is pretty big. Its black and pretty sturdy. The casing is like the newer casing that you see for the 360 Intercooler. Instead of a printed box its a big sticker.

The PS3 get hot, but it doesn't overheat. So what is the point. This device many cause more damage to the PS3 if it fan don't turn or short. Just stand the PS3 up and it cool just fine.

Dunn know... if this is needed? I dun have much problem with heat and my PS3. The area where the AC snaps in (I'm assuming the power supply is there) gets warm after hours of gaming, but other than that it's a fairly cool system.

» who would buy this?

People who own a ps3 know the truth, that they don't even get hot. They get warm. Running 24/7 for months on end, it's just warm... Sometimes the internal fan kicks on for a few minutes. And it gets HOT around here.

Stupid to post things like, notoriously hot....

there is also a front cooling fan which uses the 4th usb as its power source, then 1 for the ps3 back panel which uses outlet electricity, use both of these equals a very safe from overheat ps3, btw overheated ps1 cover almost zero percent because this thing happens rarely, but on the 360 side its Peter Moore that officially told that as of now there's around more than 300,000 units of xbox 360 seeing the Red Ring Of Death.

i bought the nyco innercooler last week, its a good investment to protect your 500-600 super computer.

but the way you have to manually shut off the innercooler and cannot leave the ps3 in standby mode maes the abilty to remotely turn on the ps3 useless thanks nyko.......@$$
