Nucleus for the PlayStation Network - Image 1

Do you remember the spaceship shooter game Blast Factor (available via PlayStation Network)? Well, replace the ships with cells, bacteria, and viruses and you could possibly get Kuju Entertainment's Nucleus.

Players will take control of a remote unit that can be used to shoot bacteria and viruses. Fire power comes in the form of protein bombs, but you have to collect enough protein ammo from cells. There's also a tractor beam that players can use to move the cells around and cluster them. The bigger the cell cluster, the more protein it will release.

Cells can also be used for protection, along with another type of cells called stiff cells. The stiff cells can be obtained from the enemy bacteria. There are three types of enemies: bacteria (the frontliners), viruses (faster and will break down into bacteria), and super viruses (fastest and baddest of them all). Different levels have different conditions. For example, players might be required to survive for four minutes and hold back barrages of enemies. Or have the player destroy all the enemies in four minutes.

Nucleus will be available for download on your PS3 by summer in Europe. There's no announcement as to a North American release but we'll keep you posted. In the meantime, check out the screenshots.

Blast Factor not a spaceship shooter

Looks like someone hasn't really played or seen Blast Factor, because it's the exact SAME premise as this. You are trapped in a cell and destroying bag organisms in the cell (each level is even called a CELL). Blast Factor has really cool music and a 4-player mode-option, too.

hmmmm

yeah, thats what I thought when playing Blast Factor and this has just confused the hell out of me

LOL

Maybe they should have gotten somebody who atleast played the Blast Factor demo to write this. A death in Blast Factor says even Decontamination Failed. Blast Factor is really great anyways. This game would have to do something really special to win me away from it, and that does not include copy Blast Factor's premise.

cool

I think sony should release this types of games for the psp as well. After all this games look cooler on a portable than on a 50 inch tv.

oh no

I JUST bought my ps3 and when i downloaded this game...it bricked it!

Idiot.

This games isn't even out yet, and it doesn't do anything to the PS3 OS. It cannot possibly "brick" the PS3.
