Notice: Sony's PSN Video Store is region-locked |
Ó
Some sad news for those folks who want to access the recently opened PSN Video Store from outside the US. Joystiq reports that Sony's PSN Video Store is IP-locked to the United States. What does this mean, exactly? Well, if you have a US account, but don't live in the US (let's say Europe), you still won't be able to access the video store. In any event, this means that folks outside the US will have to wait for their respective areas to open up shop. Let's hope it happens soon.

very annoying. i just wanted to check it out at the least. but alas, i cant.
i use whosip and my location is estimated to be in the us but then again SONY, is probably slightly more advance and paid for details of ip addresses ill have a go btw i know nothing about networking
No one saw this coming. This would not have been able to happen if Sony couldn't find a way to stop people from other countries obtaining films which could potentially be banned there, like Japan has a limit on the number of western films that can be released... or is it China... and Australia trying to ban things left, right and centre) The movie studios insisted on this, it's the same reason why 7 out of the 9 major Hollywood studios supported Blu-ray over HD DVD. If it makes you feel any better, M$'s Netflix deal is only available to people in the USA too.
that does make me feel better. and i dont know why! i have an xbox too!
We europeans are typically gonna have to wait a few months and weeks for a share of the action.
well considering Europe is getting content that the U.S. is not getting AT ALL *cough*PlayTV*cough* you don't get to complain about something small like this.
well tbh, we i dont really care because i havent really bothered registering an account on a different region. Just have to stick with the ol' Europeon lackfest
over here in england we always gettin s.hit late all da games are in da same language as us but we have 2 extra days weeks or months 4r no reason and its about tym we get sumfin u lot dont.
