No Final Fantasy XIII this year, says Square Enix

Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto once said that they wanted people to be sucked into the world of Final Fantasy XIII for at least one whole decade. That's an awfully long time and we guess you will all agree with us when we say that it would be good to start playing the game this year.

Unfortunately, that will not happen. Square Enix President Yoichi Wada was interviewed earlier today during his company's financial briefing in Tokyo. When asked about the release date, Wada commented, "It will still take a bit more time. At the very least, [a release] this fiscal year is definitely out of the question."

Oh well. We're not really in a hurry because we don't want to get stuck inside a poorly created video game for 10 long years. For what it's worth, it's good to know that Square Enix is really taking its time to develop Final Fantasy XIII. Based on the president's statements, we should be getting the title by March 2008 at the earliest.

Final Fantasy XIII follows the story of main character Lightning but no details are currently available about her past, her personality, and how she really fits in the whole Fabula Nova Crystallis universe.

Listen you, the more time it takes for them to release the game the better. Would you want a game to come out 8 months after FF12 came out. I could tell you that if it did, it would suck. They need time to make this the best FF game ever. Same goes for DMC4 i want it to be release like i a year and a half or 2 years. With that time DMC4 will be the best game ever. Stop being spoiled you whiner.

Man shut up. They dont need FF13 to come out so quick and suck. They need awesome games and that takes time. Hell 8 months ago FF12 came out. Rushing this game will destroy the gameplay.

Save money and get a damn ps3. And the same for games and stop whining like the moron called FF-fan. Hell there are still plenty of games coming out. God of war chains of Olympus. And others.

I too am little upset all the great titles are taking forever but the longer it takes the better the results. But I agree with "hah", I'm really looking forward to Lair, that one looks promising. Also isn't Home open beta comin' out soon also? These should simmer down my anticipation and keep me occupied for a while and I'll stick to the new upscale update and enjoy MGS3 along with others.

Oh and if the case be that DMC is delayed because of the xbox, then why should we wait for the other console that can barely keep up? We should get our copy of DMC and spoil it for the xbox users. muaha

FFXII ISN'T COMING TO THE XBOX 360! FFS, THE XBOX IS A POS! THERE IS NOWAY IN *****ING HELL FFXII IS GETTING A PORT TO THE *****ING 360!

FF will have some cheap spinoff for the xbox and wii. The PS3 will get FFXII exclusive and the xbox and wii will get some other type of ff, BUT NOT LIKE FFXII!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

Yet another game not coming out this year, Im fed up with this and I am going to exchange my PS3 for the 360 Elite, it has far better games and live looks amazing, its a bit sad waiting for a few old PS1 rehashed games and looking at the latest sales of the PS3 im getting out while its still worth something.

You rely on a couple of updated PS1 games? the time these titles come out most people will already own a Wii or a 360 that is why they need to be out NOW, look at the hardware sales in the USA the PS3 is fading away, and the 360 version of guitar Hero is outselling the PS2 version that would of been unheard of even 3 months ago.

The PS2 and Wii continues to outsell the PS3 and 360 so in the case of the PS3 No matter what they do unless they remove the Blu Ray to get the price of the PS3 down to the amount people are willing to pay 360 premium price maximum it looks like the PS3 is finished.

The trouble is the 360 already has Blue dragon out in Japan(made by the Final Fantasy creator) and it will be coming to the rest of the world THIS YEAR and with Lost Odyssey also coming out this spells BIG trouble for our PS3.

Which means it definitely wont be released until AFTER March 2008. I think most people where expecting an early 2008 release. There wasn't too many people that thought it would be released by the end of this year.

Sucks to own a PS3 right now. Especially if your Japanese.

This is a surprise? Anyone in the know how could have told you this game wasn't going to see the light of day till at least the 2nd quarter of 2008. I find it hilarious though that there are people out there who are mad about this and say it's the reason they bought the system in the first place. It's nice to see some of us out there have the kind of money to pay $660 for a single game. I own a PS3 but I'm interested in Blue Dragon, guess i should go out and spend a couple of hundred bills, get an Elite and a copy of the game, smartest idea i had all year...Seriously though, to people who make these kind of remarks, think before you purchase a system...

According to your "evidence":

The PS3 will destroy the Xbox 360 when the major hit titles come out, especially FFXIII, which owns Blue Dragon, and MGS4.

stealth is right. it does not mean that the developers are lazy, it is just that these games on PS3 are before their time. I personally can't wait for : Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4. and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. these games will all be epic, and they are all on PS3.

okay......i own a 360 elite and blue dragon.....and umm dude blue dragon is not that great of a game and the xbox 360 is not all that great.....i mean all the 360 got is first person shooters and sport/racing gamess....and there's only 2 or 3 known rpgs comin to 360....i also own a ps3 and its far superior to the 360 elite......and xbox live isient as great as it sounds its maybe a little bit better than ps3 online but u gotta pay for it...ps3 online is free....and is u bought a ps3 just for ff13 that ur a complete idion.....lets see there's killzone 2......heavenly sword...lair...resistance....ninja gaiden sigma...metal gear solid 4.....warhawk...final fantasy 13...final fantasy versus 13....and proly final fantasy hearsis 13.... and i can easily predict another kingdom hearts and star ocean on ps3....all 360 got good commin in the next few years is halo 3....halo wars....fable 2....and maybe gears of war 2
