No Elder Scrolls: Oblivion on PSP or PS3?

Bethesda has announced a contradictory statement to recent news that Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will not be available on PSP or PS3 anytime soon, they have no plans for a format change. "At present we have no announced plans to bring Oblivion to any platforms other than PC or Xbox 360," said a representative of Bethesda. But having no "announced" plans doesn't necessarily mean it isn't in the works.

The statement was in reply to a post made by 'Snatches' on the Gaming Age Forums stating that games were due out November. He apparently sourced his information from a release list from Bethesda, and he's again replied with the statement "if this news isn't true it's because some sales idiot at Bethesda sent out incorrect info". So who do we believe, a person who could actually have some news, and seems convinced, or a company who might be trying to cover any leaked information. Stay tuned for further news on the matter.

the stupidest thing about this is that bethseda never said that oblivion was going to be a 360 exclusive, if you check on there site they list the game for pc and next gen systems. I had always expected a ps3 version to come out, now psp on the other hands, thats a bit surprising, if they're gonna dumb the game down that much i'd probably love to see a revolution version too. That would be more fun with the upgraded combat system of oblivion.

There's no reason to keep past news that is not true. PSPUpdate, you need to get rid of past posted that has been invalidated by more recent news. It looks quite unprofessional as it is right now.

this is common among publishing companies. I guarantee it will be shown at E3. It was actually slated as a PS3 release way back when it started development. It was never slated a Xbox exclusive. And a PSP version is not too farfetch, since they did an NCage version and mobile versions for the cell phone.

think about it if they didnt have anything planned why didnt they just say "No we are not bringing this game to the PS3" instead of "No announced plans", If you know anything about marketing you know that this means "yes it's coming but we will just give a vague remark and let you guys go crazy speculating about it."

I think #13 as well as others need to hold their tongues. The same story we posted was picked up by 1up, Joystiq, and IGN. We did not make it up. We also linked to the original source for the information - how can we make something up and then give a source?

I have had enough from you who will scream \"PSPUpdates sucks\" at the drop of a hat, even though your argument is completely unfounded. It\'s you who are making things up.

you went too far with your comments. Although pspupdates announced like it was valid they sort of redeem themselves with this post. Also if you would have follow the source then you would have seen it for what it truly was. Is not Qj.net's fault people are idiots and misinterpret their postings.

Anyway, this is probably the most valid rumor of the year and most likely true.

have any of you ever played any of the morrowind games? yes? then you'd know that the game is flippin' huuugeee, it wouldent fit on a UMD easily. also, you may like to know that the loading times are extreme! which would also be crapper on the psp, as it hates loading anything. also, note that morrowind has always been PC / XBOX and they are doing quite well for it, its one of the sales points of xbox 360s, why would they put it on ps3's? waste of time. lol oblivion on psp, how cute

your post was a waste of time. Why would they put it on PS3 and PSP? To make EVEN MORE money than they already have. Also, regarding "morrowing not fitting on a UMD," it's in the development for mobile devices (Cellphones, Smartphones) so the thought that it would be available on PSP isn't that far fetched.

ALSO, Morrowind was originally a huge game but its filesize was reduced greatly for the Morrowind Game Of The Year edition that came with the two expansion packs, Tribunal and Blood Moon (i think those are the names, my copy is lent out ATM).

So again, ROLF and LOL all you want, but your time would be better spent before posting ignorant, unfounded comments that make you look like an idiot. 99% of PSP owners i'm sure wouldn't mind this release coming out so have some damn faith or STFU.

When will you PS3 Fanboys realize your waiting for the wrong console. Sony is going through rought times and I wouldn't exactly anticipate the PS3 being that great. Especially when the 360 drops its price before the PS3 comes out its going to walk all over it. PS3 will end up being like Dreamcast, just wait and see. $500-$700 for the console, sony go **** yourself!

bigshynepo - I'm not saying I wouldent like it if it were possible, id love it. Sadly im not as deranged as you make out, and i can see numourous reasons why it wouldent work. The PSP is slow at loading , being the main one. So what if its on mobiles? its probably crap and overhead.

Your pretty stupid if you think ps3 will fail. In fact your pretty stupid to think the 360 will do better overall than ps3. Your getting way more for your money with ps3. If ps3 comes out for 500 or less, wich I truly belive it will, Microsoft has no chance. Think about it. Cell,blu ray,built in wi-fi,60gb hdd,and online browsing all right out the box.Does 360 have any of the those things even with the premium pack?No. 100$ extra for the wi-fi adapter.100$ for a bigger hard drive. 100-200$ for hd-dvd drive. Now how much money have you spent? 500$ for ps3 doesn't sound so bad now does it.The 360 has a rough time with Oblivion(frame rate is choppy and the loading is unacceptable,I know cause because I own It) so how do you expect bigger and better games to play smooth on 360?

to be honest, you need a house sized computer to get decent loading times on morrowind. 2gb Ram, latest graphics card, 2xAMD 64 athlons, and it still takes its sweet time lol. w00t its worth it though

Ok, I don't understand how you people can say other are "fanboys" right away. I've always been called a "PS2 Fanboy" just because I said it sold twice as much as XBox. I like all the consoles. And I'm writing this because I want to know why you people who call others fanboys, why you bother to without any information to back it up. And most people who say others are fanboys, usually are completely loyal, or fanboys, to the XBox. And this is happening everywhere on qj.net. Mostly the game blogs tho. But please stop. I hate going though 50 comments of "Console A totally kicks Console B's ****ing *** so hard, and you make out with your Console B and want to marry it." I jsut want to see logical comments that could help me out. So please just stop.

And yes, you could fit an Eldar Scrolls on psp UMD. They would just have to dumb it down alot. Umds hold 1.7 gigs. PS3 blu-rays hold 50gig.

This isn't such a big deal...the game would be out dated by the time the PS3 comes out anyway...so really We aren't losing anything...

Sure i have it on 360 and would like to see the GFX improvement on PS3 with 1080p and crispier grahpics and all but honestly the game would be like 10 months old...

Oblivion stuttering is from 360's RAM (or lack of, rather). It has 512MBs of shared RAM, that's total crap considering most PCs have 512MBs plus VRAM. Better PCs have 1024 (most gamers who own PCs have at least this much) plus VRAM. If Oblivion was on the PS3, it would stutter too, but not as much.

Oh, and a PSP Oblivion would suck, since most PSP games have a habit of sucking. Plus, I would HATE to see Oblivion shoved in PS2-quality graphic goodness in a 1.7GB UMD.

This game would actually be pretty amazing for the PSP. It has enough buttons and would fit right in with the PSP game selection. The only problem would be the need for a second analog stick. Other than that, it would make a nice game and I hope it really does come out. Its more liekly that Morrowind would come out for it though. That would be fine also. Either way i'm happy. It would be hard to fit either game on a UMD disc.

OMFG can i read a single blog without hearing all this fanboy bull*****. anyone who cant aprectiate a system without it depending on the developer needs to stop *****ing posting because it doesnt matter. back when the comodor 64 was "the *****" people were not "dissing" it and saying that amiga was way better or anything like that. i think that most fanboys just favor the system that they own, simply because they own it, and if for some reason thats not the case then the person needs to take a break from games because they are ment for entertainment. if the PS cult or XBOX cult or w/e you "fanboys" are in realized that its not the system but the game then the industry would take another step in its evolution twards the ever perfecting world of electronic gaming and finally...nirvana would be achieved and all the greatest gamers would be brought up to gaming heaven and all the would would be at peace.
