NIS America: Disgaea 3 coming to US - Image 1

NIS America has announced via press wire that Disgaea 3 will be coming shortly to the U.S. to tickle fans on Sony's PlayStation 3. But unlike the previous titles in the series, the third Disgaea successor places the protagonist in a quest of heroic proportions though peculiarly tackled at a different perspective.

Different perspective - now there's an understatement. Featuring the most spectacular attack moves (way) out of a Hollywood action star's league and descriptive backdrops of the Disgaea-signature Netherworld, Disgaea 3 will aims to twist new players' fancies and toy around with the oft-used good versus evil plot.

As we've all seen in the preview assets of the Japanese version of Nippon Ichi Software's Disgaea 3 - scheduled to be locally released back in January - the game will sport three-dimensional environments while characters will remain intricately detailed in 2D. Disgaea 3 will also feature three-dimensional, turn-based strategic battles by way of the Geo Block feature. Other additions include:
  • Geo Panel - A group of stat-altering elemental properties that are placed upon certain parts of the battlefield. When there are one or more colored panels on the battle grid, it means an element can affect that area. The effect can boost or reduce your unitÂ’s stats.
  • Item World - A special randomly-generated battle stage within each and every item you find. By defeating these special battle stages, you are able to strengthen your items.
But NIS America has not placed a definite date for when copies will appear on shelves, so keep your eyes peeled as we poke around for more information.

» Sounds tottally awesome

Save that none of that is unexpected or out of the realm of what Disgaea 1 & 2 did (Geo panels, Item world)
