Tecmo, in a press release, announced that its first PlayStation 3 title Ninja Gaiden Sigma has a total of more or less 500,000 copies in circulation worldwide. This is really good news for the company considering the game's been out for only a few months.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma actually first appeared on the original Xbox as Ninja Gaiden Black back in 2004. A lot of changes have been implemented by Tecmo in this next-gen iteration, such as improved graphics, enemy specifications like AI and damage, as well as the addition of a new playable character, Rachel.

It was announced recently that downloadable content packs will be made available soon at the PlayStation Store collectively known as "Survival Mode". The first one of which will be be released in North America on September 6 and later this month in Japan. It will be priced for 315 Yen or roughly around US$ 3.

It's not that hard to sell many games when there's so few to choose from.

"A lot of changes have been implemented by Tecmo in this next-gen iteration, such as improved graphics, enemy specifications like AI and damage, as well as the addition of a new playable character, Rachel."

The character models have improved, some of the textures have higher resolution, and there's a new playable character. That's about it.

Come on, if the games get better someday I'll have a reason to get a PS3! The PS3 games released so far have no appeal to me whatsoever! I bought the XBOX version of Ninja Gaiden for $10 a year ago and almost beat it! Why pay $60 for the same game on a $600 system just to get improved graphics and a new playable character?

sold. Pretty good amount for the install base they are working with. I bought it and it does rock. The new areas fit in well. I have the xbox version and beat it a few times and sure while it does feel oddly fimiliar the new stuff makes the pace nice for those who played it before and man if it's not harder then originally!

Have some common sense dude. Not everyone bought the first xbox. Some how just cause a PS3 game is doing good you have something against it. Why don't you grow up already. Are you getting bored of your 360 that you're always putting down the PS3?

There are many gameplay improvements (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps3/file/935677/49145 has a complete list), such as alteration of some annoying puzzles, online leader boards, and a few tweaks to may the game a bit more enjoyable. You seem to forget as well; a lot more people bought a non-Xbox console last gen than did; they're just trying to allow people that didn't buy an Xbox (like me) enjoy a great game from an older console we may not have bought, and spiff it up so it plays like a new-gen title. Is that enjoyment hurting you in some way?

I owned the original XBox version as well as the new Sigma version for PS3 and I can say without a doubt that MCS is dead on with what he has said here.

Granted, most of you havent played the Xbox version and think that the improvements are probably vast concidering it is on the ps3 now. But in all actuality, Temco has basically released the same game three times already. The only differences in the versions are what MCS has already pointed out. Hes not being a fanboy, he just knows what hes talking about. And as an owner of both versions I am here to verify that he is indeed correct.

You guys just dont want to believe the truth. He could tell you that the sky is blue and half of you would argue and call him a fanboy of the colour blue! Not everyone got blindly sucked into the sony hype machine like you, and he is one of those people. Hell, I bought a ps3 thinking it would at least be half decent, but I was wrong. Very very wrong.

The sky is blue? Last night I checked, the sky was black. Last week while I was at the beach during sunset, the sky was orange. The sky is indeed not blue at all. Blue is not a word in Japanese, nor is it in Chinese.

For those who have never bought the poorly executed original XBlowx, Ninja Gaiden (and NGB) was never bought. Tecmo did the right thing rereleasing it on the PS3 to give gamers a chance to play one of the best games of that genre. No one asked you to buy it on the PS3 if you have the original versions on your XBlowx. And it's as if Sigma didn't live up to those versions...usually remakes are garbage.

Well, I agree with you and MCS (SHOCK HORROR!~) that the game hasn't changed much - but it doesn't matter because some people never bought an Xbox back in the day.

However, both you and MCS seem to like taking that extra unnecessary step towards making a jab at the PS3. Why? I dont' know, maybe an inferiority complex?

Just comment on the game if you feel so compelled to open your mouth. What's the quality of NGS got to do with Sony's "hype machine"? Tecmo made a good game available to a wider audience and here you two come slagging it for the sake of slagging the PS3.

Some of these people are so bitter. It's like they only read the PS3 posts, cry to themselves for like half an hour and then vent on the comments section. Seriously I never see them on the 360 posts. They obviously don't care enough about the system they are so infatuated with.

# Very good indeed!Guest 2007-08-16 11:06
If NGS is selling so well, I'm sure Heavenly Sword will do even better! One million copies at least, two millions probably (and a lot of PS3s sold)

I guess Itakagi isn't happy with NGS selling this good :D. That man has a strong bias against Sony consoles, and now, probably Tecmo it is considering to port NG2 to PS3 (We can hope ;) ).

I'm just glad Ninja Gaiden Sigma sold well. Do you kids know what that mean? The next Ninja Gaiden game from Team Ninja will be available on the PS3 as well. Plus by the time it comes out there will be around 7 to 8 Million PS3s sold worldwide so why not make it multi and make twice the profit and get more gamers to buy their game.

I couldn't care less what MCS and AoxowhoreoxoA have to say about NGS. This is the best iteration of one of the greatest action games ever. Most reviews won't tell you otherwise either.
