New World Record for longest play session of GTA IV set in India |

Imagine the kind of training and concentration that went into this feat. A 26-year-old guy from Mumbai, India has just set a new world record for the longest play session of Grand Theft Auto IV.The record holder is Chirantan Patnaik, who reportedly sat down through a whopping 40 hours of GTA IV gameplay, using only four ten-minute breaks, which he was allowed to have every hour. The record-making event happened in Patnaik's home, under Guinness officials' supervision, from 10AM on September 4 until September 6, around 2AM.
Zapak Digital Entertainment COO, Rohit Sharma, beamed with pride at Patnaik's accomplishment, saying: "We have always believed in the potential of Indian gamers. Chirantan's success is a proud moment for the Indian gaming industry. This will encourage more youngsters to take gaming seriously."
Patnaik aims to further break the new record he created by playing for 48 hours straight. The previous record was set at 28 hours and 1 minute.
Congratulations! Know what I heard? Chicks dig Guinness World Record holders... CONGRATULATIONS!

As an Indian man I must say that I am...apathetic. I guess it's cool to say you've set a world record though. I wonder why he stopped at 40. What made him say "I just can't go on any longer!"

1. Was it with pause breaks, nap breaks, sleep breaks, snack breaks, bathroom breaks, or did he play on for the whole amount of time?
2. I can beat this hands down. I play GTAIV every day and for about 12 hours at a time( i have no job so don't say anything) In 4days i already have his record beat(trust me i have a very limited life. with no money and not talking to any of my ex-friends i have way too much time on my hands)
3. I will look to beat this guys record this weekend.
Gotta look at my longest played session on my stats area on GTAIV. I am pretty sure i have played 12 hours nonstop without realising it. This will be a walk in the park for me.
Imagine if he did that on an xbox.. its would have been 20hrs if he was lucky.

He didnt even do anything special.. infact only an idiot would spend 40hrs playing GTAIV. what the hell was he doing for that time? or did it just take it that long to finish the story?
hmmm then again being indian the driving would have been a big problem, maybe thats where the time went.

I played it for half an hour with only 1 5 minute break to bang my head against the wall.
They are telling us to play one game for 40 HOURS! Ill get bored after a hour and play MW or W@W. He must a crazy concetration cause i always get distracted easily. OMFG! a leaf....brb......
I kind of stretched the truth, I do hang out with some of my friends at least 5 or 6 times a month and
I don't have a 12 hour longest play time I have an 8 hour longest play time, But
anyways, Really, is this really that hard to accomplish, All you have to do is sit in
front of a TV or PC screen depending on which platform you have the game on
and play for 2 days straight. Coffee and energy bars are a must!!!
I can do it too. Just like the first person to run the 6 minute mile, and the countless millions who came after him who ran it faster, I could out last this guy as can so many other people in the world. This is a pretty worthless title though, he may as well have gotten the "wasted my time" record.
nfs... how would chicks dig a record like that? where I live, If I said I have a record for playing a video game that long, they would look at me like I was an idiot. I should have a record for playing the same version of Madden 10 for so many hours in the last 10 years.
I really wouldn't personally call this racist. I guess it could be looked at that way... but when I seen it, I felt bad for the indian community because it basically said "We have no accomplishments , so we will praise whatever we can get". I like indians though, if anything they should go for a record of the most peyote taken within a 24 hour period because my indian buddy said his tribes love that crap.

i can play gta4 on my ps3 for 4 days non-stop,
i will use the ten minute breaks to make fast love with my wife on the other room but i guess Guinness wouldn't allow that. lol
