We've all been waiting for more news and details about the Battlfield: Bad Company game of DIGITAL Illusions EC. So far, all that we know about it is that it will be available both for PS3 and Xbox 360, and promises the best single-player game in the series. Of course, there will also be multiplayer modes. To remove any lingering confusion, Battlefield: Bad Company has absolutely nothing to do with the shooter Battlefield 2142.

So, there really isn't much of an update from its developer, DIEC, or from its editor, EA. But what we DO have are new screenshots to allow us a peak as to what's coming our way once its North America release pushes through come spring of 2007.

Yeah, they do want us to ask for more, don't they?

That looks incredible. Lets hope the action and environments match the quality of their faces

» meh

Those are OBVIUOSLY not real, I mean c'mon look at how aliased it is, and how square his finger is. Aside from those they are pretty good renders, I mean besides the jaggies and low poly; there too close to the Killzone target renders. Everybody whose cool knows that realtime graphics remotely close to that won't show up for like four or five years.

AAA! GIMME THE GAME!!! BF2142 IS *****!!!!

by SteveTao - 2006-08-21 03:06
» Hmm...

Real time. No anti-aliasing at all. Nice graphics. Obviously, the PS3's version will be realtime while the 360 version is only CGI.

» Blindfolds down

Actually if you look close, its bout as aliased as most of the games for ps3 that are in development now if not less so, it happens with still images. The square fingers, yeah they are pretty square, but are you going to pay attention to someones fingers in a fire fight? NO proabably not. Also take a highquality glove and put it on and see how square your finger looks, youd be amazed. You seem to pay attetion to all the meaningless areas that are ususaly ignored. Missing all the details, facial structures, and textures. Yes they come pretty close to killzone target renders but thats a mute point. Call of duty 3's newest trailers come pretty damn close to the action in killzone 3, their models, resistance's, mgs, ff13, and so many other ps3 games have shown that its possible.

Plus you kill your agrument with the 'Everybody whose cool knows that realtime graphics remotely close to that won't show up for like four or five years.'

Whether your a fanboy or not, you can be blindfolded eitherway, most of the time its in disbeleif. Yes sony has made us skeptical because of E3 but so far devs have been proving point after point and living up to promise quite rapidly and its not even out yet is it?

» one last thing

When have you seen a battlefeild game that had top of the line graphics? Or even impressive ones?

by roseysdaddy - 2006-08-21 04:54
» and were certain...

...these are ps3 shots because why....?

by Hummer - 2006-08-21 05:29
» No unreal crap..

The game (and these screens) is made with Digital Illusions’ own "Frostbite" game engine.

by ffaldkja - 2006-08-21 06:19
» im not saying they are

but judging from other games shown and proven in realtime, the graphics of these screenshots is very fesible. Why are poeple still bringing killzone as a reason to bash a game that looks decent? There are already launch games taht look better than this even. Watch Call of Duties newest ingame footage and tell me that thats not insane. Besides Battlefeild games never had top graphics and you all know it.

» Photoshop work

To bad this is Photoshop field of depth :(

the one with the car is not even possible in real..

(so mucht DoF in an wide angle shot)

by Shatterdome - 2006-08-21 07:23
» ....

Hmm maybe you havn't played fight night #16 ? They use just as strong DOF, with just as much detail in the BG...

Seriously...this comes close, but still isn't even as good as GOW, so why are you saying it's not possible and must be a pre-rendered CGI ?

Man, Sony was doing that *****, not MS, MS has yet to show pre-rendered anything....if they don't think a game looks good enough, they don't show it, and when they do, it is all in realtime......***** MS has done away with CG since the day of xbox....

» ok... ffaldkja

Not to be rude, but read my first post again and keep in mind sarcasm. I do believe that roseysdaddy gots a hold of it.

Cause although you may not believe it from what you read; I agree with everything you stated. I mean come on dude you think someone who is serious would really say something like: "Anybody whose somebody knows that..."

Oh and this dang university computer won't let me login, so actually I am registered, contrary to the damn parenthetical statement after my alter ego's title.

» Dude!!!

PS3 has more better graphics than the 360 and the price is 500 to 600 With Blue Ray, 360- 300 to 400 without HD DVD player. = 500, o most the same has the PS3, now PS3 Hard Drive 60G and Xbox 15G to 20G (I think). MACHING O' MOST THE SAME PRICE JUST THAT THE XBOX IS SELLING EVERYTHING LIKE ACCESORIES.

No doubt the PS3 is a appealing machine but at present there is no PS3 so shut the f.u.c.k up and come back here once the damn thing is actually out.

» OMG LOOK!

A Battlefield game with DECENT GRAPHICS!!!

by Andre - 2006-08-21 17:55
» Downgraded Console Version

Lets hope this game isn't going to be adowngraded version of the PC version put on consoles, kind of like what EA did with BattleField 2. It's good to know this game has nothing to do with 2142 , that game is bad

by rybnik - 2006-08-21 23:01

# 24 you got it right, BF2142 does NOT look like a good game, graphically, or otherwise, lol! If these are true in game images, then I am duly impressed. Just hope the gameplay matches that of other great battlefield games. Oh, and the Killzone camparison really is valid, The differences I see are: this is ACTUAL potential realtime! As far as the graphical fidelity, this would only need a couple more shader passes to get the full look of Killzone. Other than that, every other graphical aspect (almost 0 aliasing, no real poly edges visible, etc) looks as good as the notorious CG. Whether this title will be capable of displaying anywhere near the absolutely insane AI of the Killzone vid, is another question entirely!

Oh, and if this is downgraded, DAMN!!!
