New revelations on Burnout 5 |

Ó
We came across GamePro's exclusive report on the lates details surrounding Burnout 5. There will obviously be a lot of changes once it hits the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360 this fall, but we're excited to see how the developers at Criterion have facilitated this speed demon's evolution.Criterion Games is bannering the new "open world" that the game will have. Much like the Grand Theft Auto series, players will have absolute control of when the game starts and ends. That means you can pretty much coast through the massive locals or step on the gas and fly your angry iron all over the streets.
The game doesn't have barriers when it comes to racing, and it has no intentions of making you follow any rules. What it does instead is that it constantly tracks your activities, whether you're just there for the sights or on a takedown spree. All of these activities fill up the stats in your driver's license. The driver's license is the gauge of your skill levels, which will influence your ability to handle different vehicles.
Criterion also revealed that while Burnout 5 will be both in the Xbox 360 and the PS3, the focus will mainly be on Sony's high-end console. The hardware advantages offered by the PS3, such as 1080p on HDMI, more processing muscle, and the possibilities that the Sixaxis controller offers make it the platform of choice. Details on what will and will not be in the consoles exclusively have not been disclosed.
The game will also avoid having that "one super car" that will simply dominate the rest of the lineup. Criterion says that having one car with all the great stuff under one hood spoils the fun in online play because it essentially breeds an arena where everyone uses the same vehicle.
Burnout 5 still has several months before it springs out of the garage, but the innovations provide lots of intrigue as to how the aggressive driving franchise will be received by fans and casual gamers alike. If you want the nitty-gritty on the details, follow the Via URL and see the full report.

As far as them saying the ps3 has more power, pretty much every dev has said that it does (at least in theory) so if they want to focus on the PS3, thats fine by me. And before anyone starts saying im a PS3 fan posing as a 360 player, check my gamertag (slipstream0)

Every developer, publisher, hardware maker has said that the PS3 is the most powerful console right now. MS even wants you to believe that you don't need the most powerful system because they have better software (serious joke). Even though their whole claim to fame with the original xbox was that it was more powerful than the PS2, now power isn't important. And having more software equates to being on the market a year earlier, which gave them a lead that continues to dwindle daily.
Get a life please and try to be happy with what you have!

They also say it's only slightly more powerful overall, with the PS3 having a CPU advantage and the 360 a GPU advantage.
I doubt we'll see much if any difference between the game on the 360 and PS3, just as there was little difference between the previous versions on the XBox and PS2.
Interestly, this series has always led on the PS2 (the PS2 was the lead developement format for the Burnout games last gen, not the XBox), so it's no surprise to see the same this gen.
And of course, 1080p over HDMI is not possible on the 360 right now because 360s do not have HDMI ports, until the release of the Elite that is (I would be interested in Criterions actual words on the matter, not the reporter's interpretation) . I expect 1080p will be possible on the 360 version.
