PS3 XMB FW 2.40 - Image 1

Incoming! From PS3 Firmware v2.52 earlier this month, we're now moving into FW 2.53. The changelog doesn't include much - but if you're a heavy user of Flash sites, it makes a world of difference.

Dropping in on November 26, PS3 FW v2.53 will have the changes:
  • Network
    • New for 2.53: The Internet browser now supports full-screen mode for Adobe Flash Player content.
This comes as a follow up to the Flash 9 support in the browser, a feature first incorporated into FW 2.50.

» Another update?!

Jesus! Why do they keep releasing updates? Can't they just release fragment updates that include the updates they are doing, instead of re-sending the whole firmware along with a minor update?

I have a 100KB/s connection and it takes roughly 3 and a half hours per update. I can't play online for 3 and a half hours, that's what bugs me; and yet they are releasing them frequently, such as twice a month, if not more.

» dont overexaggerated

yeah, my connection is 768kbps which is wat u described and it takes about 30min for update, or go dl off pc and put it on ur usb.

"now I can pirate movies off the net with greater ease :S "

Seriously if you can bear flash quality movies IN FULL SCREEN then more power to you. Plus how will this make it easier for you to pirate movies, I believe the computer was invented quite a while ago. And seriously the guy that said "capture card" must be joking, why would you connect your ps3 to your capture card when you have a computer already!? I MEAN YOU DO HAVE A COMPUTER RIGHT!? GEEZ! It's obvious that these pro haxors think they're a bit too pro.

by ShadeyProphet - 2008-11-25 14:55
» lol

If one could bare flash quality movies?

It's not a matter bearing them. Sure flash isnt perfect. But it's not as rough as people think. Some flash content is in pretty good quality. while it's not dvd or blu-ray, it's still enjoyable unless the viewer just has such poor eyesight that he can only see 1080p.

That would be pretty bad.

by ShadeyProphet - 2008-11-25 14:59
» lol

The fact is, There is a lot of flash content out there. and it's perfectly watchable, if flash was so *****ty, youtube wouldn't be what it is today.

I think people are just spoiled and have to have the best of everything. But at the cost of 'free" and the ease to find them. i'll watch flash movies all day long.

by Shatterdome - 2008-11-26 01:26
» Either way...

if you are capturing the crappy ass video that any flash site can stream to you....well, have fun with your crappy ass video.....

Straight up this is good for porn.....beautiful full screen, crappy ass video, porn....

by Shatterdome - 2008-11-26 01:31
» well....

If it takes you 30 minutes and your internet is 7 times as fast as his....it's not an overexageration ...

What I say to you ppl, is get a real high speed connection and quit *****ing.....

Course I have a 10,000KB/s connection that costs me a whopping 30 bux a month.....

If you feed me the "we have no good internet in my area" BS then well, get the hell off the farm or out of hicksville and somewhere that is somewhat up-to-date with technology....or....quit *****ing...

by Shatterdome - 2008-11-26 01:35
» haha...

Ya, I love it....

I run my PS3 into my PC capture card, then out to my VCR and then output it to another TV and record it on a Betamax from there.....

IT"S SWEET!

by ValiX - 2008-11-26 01:54
» Shatterdome...

Shut up.

Yeah because some people are going to move countries just because their internet it slow. Not every country has the advantage of "fast" internet like the US does. Oh and not everyone can afford what you obviously can.

I live in AU and we have one of the slowest yet most expensive internet plans/companies in the world. How would you like paying A$70 a month for 256kbps speeds and a limit of 12GB? Guess what? Thats one of the better plans over here.

So why don't you shut your mouth before trying to talk about something you don't understand?

I can see where Kcdeath is coming from. When you have a low limit and slow speeds, frequent updates for something so small is ridiculous.

by Henkibojj - 2008-11-26 02:45
» Another update?

Sure, I really do like fullscreen flash support as I have missed it while browsing Youtube, but come on! Why do we need all these minor x.xZ updates when we would rather be able to go play online any day without having to update for AT LEAST fifteen minutes (with a fairly good connection)? Is this thing so big (or will the next update be that far away) that we need a whole new update for flash ONLY?

If it was like this when the black/white video bug came, I would have understood Sony releasing a new update solely to solve that problem since many were affected by it. But just for fullscreen flash? Come on, you can do better than this.

by yoshi314 - 2008-11-26 05:18
» well,

isn't that obvious? bigger archive is more difficult to figure out and decrypt.

also you do not need all previous incremental updates to install any of these.

» Tyrant156

If you can't imagine it, try having my 100KB/s internet connection.

And to everyone saying "lik d00d go update ur internet!!!!" I do not have the money to upgrade my internet connection, as we are also struggling to pay rent/bills each month. The last thing on my mind is to go upgrade my internet so that I can download things faster.

by Kcdeath94 - 2008-11-26 07:37
» Henkibojj

Man... I would love to update it in 15 minutes... Heck, I would even love to download a 20MB file in 15 minutes.

by Henkibojj - 2008-11-26 07:48
» Kcdeath94

It usually takes less than that at my place, I've got a 10/10 Mbit download/upload connection and it works fine for me. Other people suggest I get a 100/100 Mbit but that's just overkill IMO. But at my parent's house, where their connection is really slow and strange, especially over WLAN, an update could take 50 minutes to download and install. Goes way faster to connect it via cable though.

» complaints complaints complaints

i would understand before the ps3 got firmware with flash support on it people were complainting like crazy how u can't watch porn online...........now they trying to make the service better and everyone complains....YOU HAVE A UPDATE OR NOT.

I welcome updates like this where we can actually see what was made in the update instead of some phony strengthening psn support update that no one can tell the difference.....

unlike you cry babies i appreciate the good stuff the sony devs make for us.....and free of charge........this is what happens when you start giving out too many good things for free..

people's gonna want more and more out of it but at an ease where they don't even have to lift up a finger 4 it.....this is y xbox charge 4 their online service(which i don't give a rats arse bout it) I like things free and competitive at the same time..............and SONY delivers.

we are getting what xbox owners can only imagine and pray for that just won't happen and it comes at a little inconvience... I just wish everyone was more grateful for this rewarding free stuff...

by DrDeath91 - 2008-11-26 08:38

i still dont see a update their probaly waiting for it to be tomorrow everywhere(LOL)

» what a load of rubbish,

if you guys are wanting to capture steaming movies, then use ur pc for crying out loud!

then copy it over to the ps3 using wmp network sharing!! lol!!

by Shatterdome - 2008-11-26 10:17
» oh I understand very well...

I am just saying, quit complaining.....

It has to be done this way, as someone said, if it was incremental and you hadn't updated your PS3 in a long time, you would have to sit through a ton of downloads and system reboots....

Hate to say it, but countries with PS3 available and crappy internet are the minority, and most people are happy downloading 2 updates a month, rather than getting updates twice a year.....

It's just a pain when the minority tries to make the majority suffer....

update was removed from the US blog. I don't know why it was done. It doesn't bother me anyway.

It's nice being able to download the update in 5 or so minutes and my broadband is going to more than double soon. Awesome-o!!

Virgin Media 50meg? Yeah me too soon as they roll it out.

by Specht - 2008-12-01 06:21
» I wonder...

...if they delayed the update until they fix the trophy problem many people are having.

Every time I try to start Burnout Paradise it says the trophies could not be installed (even though I already have most of them) and forces me to quit the program making it unplayable. For one, I don't give a crap about trophies, it's the game I wanna play and they're more of an Xbox thing to me anyway since I have a ton more friends on Live than PSN.

I know there's a few fixes such as wiping your hard drive and redownloading the games, though I have too much stuff and time put into my HDD to do something that drastic.

by badmash2003 - 2008-12-05 11:22
» DOWNLOAD FROM HERE

Its sooooooooo long to download the update from the official ps3 website, so I've taken the liberty to upload it onto rapidshare after waiting agessssssssss to download it. Enjoy people.
