New Killzone site goes live, Killzone 2 info coming soon |
Ó
Killzone fans, here's some good news for you. According to a post made by a dev on the official Killzone: Liberation boards, killzone.com has finally gone live. It's still a work in progress and isn't 100% complete yet, but it should give players access to some unlockables via the PSP or a PC.
Right now, the website only has info for PS2 title Killzone 1 and Killzone: Liberation for the PSP, but according to the same announcement, information and details for the upcoming PS3 title Killzone 2 should be released on the website in the coming months.
Oh, and here's a tip for Firefox users. If at first the Killzone website looks messed up on your browsers, press Ctrl+F5 and it should look all fine and dandy.

Killzone 3
- Guerrilla Games was just a 3rd party company when they released Killzone 1 in Nov. 2004. That’s why Guerrilla made KZ1 all by itself (Guerrilla didn’t access to all those super-amazing Sony’s 1st party PS2 library and data).
- KZ1’s release date was originally early 2005. Since Bungie (a subsidiary of MS) decided to release Halo 2 in Nov. 2004, Guerrilla had to release KZ1 in Nov. too (because KZ1 was originally made to counter Halo 2’s release). That’s why KZ1 was a rushed (by about 5 months), unfinished, unoptimized, and unpolished game.
- Halo 2’s release date: Nov. 9. 2004; got 9.4 average review score from 185 different publications
- KZ1’s release date: Nov. 2. 2004; got 7.9 average review score from 112 different publications; therefore, KZ1 was not a bad game; it was just a decent game but miserably failed to be as good as Halo 2. Actually, for an unfinished game, KZ1 was quite good (7.9/10).
- Killzone 2 and Halo 3 both are expected to be out in Sep. 2007; again, KZ2’s biggest purpose is to counter Halo 3’s launch.
- Guerrilla Games (a subsidiary of Sony) has 130 employees (programmers and graphic designers only). Sony has spent $40 million so far (until Mar. of this year) on KZ2. Sony confirmed that the total budget for KZ2 will surpass $50 million (this is totally crazy, spending 5 to 10 times more budget to make only one game?).
- Epic has only 90 developers. Gears of War needed only $9 million to make (just for your reference, usually one good game only needs less than $5 million to make).
- Phil Harrison (the CEO of worldwide studio) said that KZ2’s final (retail) version will surpass both people’s expectations and the famous and infamous CG trailer. A person in his position can’t lie, so let’s just believe what he says, huh?
- In 2004, Guerrilla hired about 50 programmers and designers only from AAA-level companies around the world; these new employees are the brains behind KZ2 now.
- All Sony’s internal developers and Sony’s very close AAA-3rd party companies share all kinds of technologies which are used for making PS3 games (OpenGL 2 based). These world class developers are those companies which make games like: MotorStorm, MotorStorm 2 (confirmed), Metal Gear Solid 4, Warhawk, Ratchet & Clank, Virtua Fighter 5, Resistance 2 (tentatively confirmed), Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Jak and Daxter, White Knight Story, Monster Kingdom (Folks Soul), Tekken 6, Afrika, PS3 Home, Heavenly Sword, Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy versus XIII, Lair, Heavy Rain, Uncharted-Drake's Fortune, Killzone 2, God of War 3 (confirmed), Getaway, Eight Days, and Dead or Alive 5.
- Dead or Alive 5 is PS3 exclusive; confirmed by CVG.com on Apr. 30 (go and read the article unless you are blind; just for your reference, DoA 5 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma are made by the same Japanese company).
- Based on the above facts, KZ2 can’t be anything but the best shooter ever.
* Killzone 2’s actual gameplay footage (pre-alpha build) was shown to journalists at this year’s GDC expo behind closed doors. These journalists who watched the actual footage said...
- KZ2 is graphically and technologically extremely advanced.
- It was like watching Next-gen Black and Half Life 3 combined together. Everything which was hit by bullets and missiles were realistically destroyed and penetrated.
- KZ2 has extremely impressive lighting and shadow effects including the mind-blowing sky and river water.
- The environments (both indoor and outdoor) are extremely detailed.
- The characters were meticulously detailed.
- The sound effects were blowing away the audience.
- The short KZ2 footage was started in an outdoor environment. There were vehicular units like futuristic choppers and tanks. The soldiers moved into some cathedral-like building soon after. Many Helghast units encountered with our soldiers in a room. Some even said that it was like watching Hollywood blockbuster action movies.
You should just wait for the game, man. I fear that you might be verrry disappointed. If not, I'll be as happy as you because I'm a PS3 owner AND Killzone fan.
Have faith, slomo!!! lol, as said in Galaxy Quest, "Never give up! Never surrender!"
Nice one.
The Guerrilla studio is in the Netherlands, where I live :)
i think so.
1) - Guerrilla Games was just a 3rd party company when they released Killzone 1 in Nov. 2004. That’s why Guerrilla made KZ1 all by itself (Guerrilla didn’t access to all those super-amazing Sony’s 1st party PS2 library and data).
god of war
final fantasy games
grand theft auto
all third party, all better than sony games
2)- KZ1’s release date was originally early 2005.
Oh good, they rush their games to compete with their competitors. im excited now.
3)- Halo 2’s release date: Nov. 9. 2004; got 9.4 average review score from 185 different publications
Meta critic says 70, not a good score.
4)- Killzone 2 and Halo 3 both are expected to be out in Sep. 2007; again, KZ2’s biggest purpose is to counter Halo 3’s launch.
well it must be the best game ever =\
5)- Guerrilla Games (a subsidiary of Sony) has 130 employees (programmers and graphic designers only).
Waterworld cost a lot?
Epic has a history of good games. Guerilla? shellshock and killzone.
6)- Phil Harrison (the CEO of worldwide studio) said that KZ2’s final (retail) version will surpass both people’s expectations and the famous and infamous CG trailer. A person in his position can’t lie, so let’s just believe what he says, huh?
that last sentence got me on the floor in tears
phil said that trailer wasn't cg when it came out.
7)- In 2004, Guerrilla hired about 50 programmers and designers only from AAA-level companies around the world; these new employees are the brains behind KZ2 now.
youve made the point about more money and resources going into this, but that doesnt actually mean its gonna be a good game k?
8)- Dead or Alive 5 is PS3 exclusive; confirmed by CVG.com on Apr. 30 (go and read the article unless you are blind; just for your reference, DoA 5 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma are made by the same Japanese company).
Who gives a *****? and wasnt NGS a half assed remake of an xbox game?btw what does this have to to with killzone?
then my favorite:
9)- Based on the above facts, KZ2 can’t be anything but the best shooter ever.
bahahah. only a few select press people have even seen in game footage(most certaintly not us). How can you possibly jump to this conclusion?
10)* Killzone 2’s actual gameplay footage (pre-alpha build) was shown to journalists at this year’s GDC expo behind closed doors. These journalists who watched the actual footage said...
Daikatana was pretty good back in the day too.
God of war is a Sony first Party game, not 3rd as you mentioned
and Sony games are all high Quality, from Gran turismo to shadow of the collusus
i think killzone 2 will be showin on e3,let us wait and see
btw......why are you angry
why are u talking abt Ninja Gaiden Sigma in the past tense? the game isnt even out yet r-tard. plus you state that GoW is a 3rd party game, do u even know what u are talking abt??
im a sony fan and own psp, ps2 and 3 and owned both ps1's ect ect
when kz1 come out on the ps2 i didnt buy it but i bought it about 1 month ago and played it on my ps3 and i think its a realy gd game. i couldnt belive i didnt buy it earlyer. i hope kz2 kills halo 3
halo + gow= most over hyped games ever and both r crap
the person who seems so angry made a lot of mistakes.
and i do agree that halo is extremely overhyped. i cant stand halo. it's so slow and boring once you've played R:FoM, i bet halo 3 wont even be as good as resistance lmao. i honestly find R:FoM to be the best FPS out on any console right now, and i have played them all. KZ is a very good game, the graphics just suck because it was one of the very early PS2 games released and they didnt realy know how to tap the ps2's power yet, and i agree that it was rushed. but graphics dont make the game, not one bit. as long as the game is fun and things can explode and be realistic, its all good. Killzone is underrated.
And MGS4 will destroy the other competition on the 3-*****ty, followed by FFVersusXIII with FFVIIAC+ gaphics.
;]
Gears of War is not crap, i own it.Having a blast especially with new maps and annex mode.But.............like he said Halo 3 will only sell because of it's name and nothing more.Bungie even did away with their killer ranking system. Now all you have to do is camp in the game and you will gain exp points.Bull***** i want that Halo2 ranking system BACK!!!.Oh Sony knew that Guerilla Games had much potential that's why that adopted the studio and gave them the budget and tools to really deliver their imagination.Killzone 3 should be a blast. They're also using the Playstation Edge on top of their engine to optimize performance. And let expect to see lots of enemies on screen at once, you can see that in the Getaway presentation video at GDC showing to the Playstation Edge.
U kno i hate wen people say killzone 2 is meant to counter halo, first of ur thinking to damn hard, killzone 2 has no ties with halo,...Das like saying its da only reason Halo 3 exists only to counter Killzone,... well its not n killzone 2 is da same (i bet no1 read da whole thing)
for example 1 and 5, especially 5 shows how big and important is KZ2 for Sony, and how confident they are that Guerrilla will be able to deliver (Harrison is directly involve in this project). I'm pretty sure KZ2 will be graphically awesome, now we need to see if gameplay-wise it will be a satisfying, kind-of-revolutionary experience.
I dont think to counter Halo3 will be so difficult, what we have seen of Halo3 till now left many people wondering if Halo3 is Halo2 + some weapons and some small improvements in graphics. But even if Halo3 turns to be an awesome game, Sony wants KZ2 be able to stand and give it a good fight.
only coz u own gow it dont make it gd
i played gow and i prefer rfom
online its even worst
if there was a game with rfom game play and online and with gow grafix that game would be the best game ever.
on line on gow it seemed like u played for 3 min and its all over ( i have not played the new mode or new maps) oh yer and the maps r really small
I notice how you conveniently miss out all the journalists who say it looks nothing like the E3 2005 trailer.
Those who are impressed are impressed with it as a game, but no more so than many other next-gen games in developement.
But as someone has said, you should wait and see first. It's rather dumb to place SO much faith on a game you haven't even seen yet.
My brain ran out of breath trying to read that. You started your sentences with "Oh, And, as well Bull*****". When you post on here, please have your balls dropped, or at least a 9th grade education. I am not illiterate, you're just incomprehensibl e.
Thanks,
Deli
