New game development studio: Recoil Games |
Ó
And now, a new development studio is born. Finland's games industry has its newest member in Recoil Games Ltd. The new kid on the block is founded and headed by Samuli Syvähuoko - former co-founder and managing director of Remedy Entertainment, the company behind the Max Payne game franchise.
His other cohorts are Technology Director Jarkko Lempiäinen, Level Design Director Samuli Viikinen, Design Director Aki Määttä, Art Director Mikko Kautto, Senior Game Designer Petteri Putkonen and Lead Concept Artist Hans Zenjuga. These guys have 10 years of experience in the gaming industry and have worked on big-time companies such as EA, Activision, Ubisoft, and Guerrilla Games.
Now that the meet and greet is over, just what could we expect from Recoil? Apparently, they will be focusing on the creation of action games with the scope, feel, and cast of disaster movies. Their games would be blessed with huge stories and would require a large ensemble cast which would have to work together to solve challenges, conflicts, quests among many others.
Their first game development venture is based on an original IP concept and utilizes in-house technology as well as licensed third party tools. The potential platforms of the game are the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. No specifics were mentioned (such as the game title, genre,) and plans could always change so keep checking us out for updates regarding Recoil Games and their projects.
