Final Fantasy XIIIEven though Final Fantasy XII still has not been released in the United States, Final Fantasy XIII has been underway for quite some time now. How long you ask? Dorimaga magazine tells us that the scenario and setting of the game is already 80% done. Dorimaga also states that Tetsu Tsukamoto is leading weapons design. You may know him from his work on Final Fantasy X-2. There will also be vehicles using the Dual Shock 3's tilt sensor function included in the game as well. The last bit of information revealed is that the woman in the trailer will probably not be the main character, instead it will be another unrevealed woman. Well there you have it for your Final Fantasy XIII updates... even though I'm still sitting here waiting for Final Fantasy XII.

The wait for FFXII is driving me crazy. Since it is released in Japan I assume the only reason we don't have it is for them to record all new english voices. I don't need the english voices I would be happy with all the text translated and the dialouge subtitled if it meant I could play it now.

I didn't even know there was a FFXII!! Wow! I thought FFX-2 was 12... but I guess I wrong and it's a great day to be wrong! Now I can't wait to play it. I just started a game of FFIV with Cecil to re-live the game all over again. It's a bit different without the turnbased thingee. If you sit and wait the monsters keep attacking you. I haven't finished X yet cause I was stuck on Yunalesca cause I didn't have all the limit breaks and lost interest for various reasons. The lastest Final Fantasy movie sparked my fire again for the series (Did you see the bohemoth thing at the end?) and I've ordered up all the FF's for the PS. Origins, Anthology etc. Guess I'll have to wait a little more for the complete collection. (Plus III's coming for the DS I believe, never before released in NA.)

# 80% complete?Guest 2006-05-31 13:59
hmm from the nearly all pre-rendered non playable version at e3.. the fact it only showed that 1 girl and a few baddies. how could it be 80% complete and have that major a change as new characters and not a hint of them on any site. i saw all the dressspheres in ffx-2 way before the games completion.

# Wow, too bad, she looks awesome!Guest 2006-05-31 14:00
Too bad, I think she looks pretty awesome, but if she is not the main, I am sure they will come up with someone atleast as good or better. I hope so, anyways!

My personal favorite character in all of the FF games was Auron! He was just so kool! He kept a level head, he was tough, and he was what I imagine a real hero would be! He was an adult, too, not a whining little brat. I didn't like the whole dream part of the story, but that character was truly great!

read the article it says

"Next, the scenario and setting of the game is 80% finished at this point."

what this means is the plot and world are 80% done which means maybe 30-35% of he game is done just because the game engine is 100% complete since they are using the white engine. (for those who dont know thats the game engine used in the final fantasy VII ps3 tech demo)

# I can only hope!!!Guest 2006-05-31 14:38
I can only hope that this FFXIII will be an continuation to FF 10 and FF 10-2 because I enjoyed those two games. (two of the greatest RPG games around).

or at least some of the characters will make an guest apperance in the game!!!

P.S. Could this mean that FFXIII could make an earlier launch?

wtf, ff10 and x-2 were the 1st ff you played? they are not at all the best around :S suikoden 5 and dragon quest 8 are better than ffx-2 ( I hated this one... absolutly NO STORY ), ffx was great yes, and NO this won't have any link with ffx. It's a new story like any ff games, instead this time make a prequel and sequel :S

"the scenario and setting of the game is already 80%"

that doesn't mean the GAME is 80% done, just some of the basic pieces of the game. Trust me, this game is probobly only around 5% done. We have a waaaays to wait.

# worried about the graphicsGuest 2006-05-31 19:03
After I saw the HD trailer I was impress with the quality of the CGI scenes buti dont like the realtime scenes. I dont know since the psone era square is not very good in hair animation, cloths, and foliage graphics, colors and textures. They tend to be very simplistic and lacks realism. even in the CGI demo the forst area is like a PS2 games. Also the NPC are not as detailed as the main character. And offcourse the hair is not good. I hope Square must outsource game engne much better like havok, aegis or unreal 3 or the crysis engine. The game sure looks interesting especially I read that they will have vehicles and can be use freely anytime and anyplce ala Halo. Please Square improve the realism of the graphics especially the hair, cloth and foliage areas

# Yeah, I want FFXIIGuest 2006-05-31 22:39
Whats the deal with Square-Enix, danglin' Final Fantasy XIII in front of our face when we don't even have XII yet. If that isn't enough to piss off Final Fantasy Fans. Why are they waiting until October to release FFXII? Japan's had theirs for a long time already. I'm starting to get impatient.

What we saw of the game is still from early in development, and square has time to improve the graphics of the game b4 the release

I thought the hair was nice... lol.

Umm I think what the article said was the setting for the game was 80% complete meaning that they've got a huge chunk of material pretaining to story, locations, characters etc, NOT that the game is 80% done.

Inside cool tips about DVD capacity not enough for FF XIII.

It seems the good old one DVD is becoming outdated sooner than expected.

See you.
