Set during the rather tumultuous time of the Third Crusade, Assassin's Creed puts players in the shoes of Altair, an assassin sent to "take care" of nine historical figures who are behind the Crusades. Using stealth, speed, guile and a number of specialized weapons, players must hunt down these targets and dispatch them as silently and quickly as possible.
All the action will take place across three historically accurate cities populated by people who will react according to how Altair conducts himself. If he makes a big fuss, people will gather round and mistake him for some street theater. If he kills someone in view of the crowd, Altair could end up being ganged up on by a mob of people.
Add all that to the mysterious sci-fi twist that's been hanging over Assassin's Creed and it's pretty easy to see why this game has quickly become one of the most anticipated titles this year. It hits retail this November, so start marking your calendars. Screenshots are below.
