Netflix going disc-less for PS3 by October |

Netflix has announced that they are planning to release a software-only version of their online video rental service for the PS3 this October. Speaking in the company's recent earnings call, CEO Reed Hastings said:
“Before our next [earnings] call in October, we expect to be launching a major new version of our Sony PS3 user interface which doesn’t require a disc, and is dynamically updated continuously with the latest Netflix UI improvements.”
Netflix is expected to reveal more details about the upcoming update in the coming weeks, stay tuned.

So..
1. Why only the ps3.
2. Why only now? why not... when consoles first got netflix..
anyway, cool, means i don't have to worry about saving this disc in case i decide to downgrade to netflix.
(didn't even have to finish my account and the shipped a disc to me xD, never did finish it cause i noticed they over charge compared to services out here.)
