Netflix confirmed for PS3 |
Ó
So says the press release sent out:
PS3 system owners will soon enjoy an unparalleled experience watching their favorite movies and TV shows streamed instantly from Netflix, downloading from the PlayStation Network or watching Blu-ray/DVD media. The Netflix offering expands on the entertainment experience delivered to PS3 system owners via PlayStation Network.
Monthly subscription to Netflix on your PS3 will cost you US$ 8.99. At this rate, you can then watch movies and TV episodes all you want. If you're a Netflix member, though, you'll be glad to know that you will be able to stream movies for free initially after the launch of the service. All you have to do is put in the free instant streaming disc (that is currently being made available to Netflix members), and choose from among the movies and TV episodes conveniently organized for you.
No word on for how long you can enjoy this free streaming privilege, but what is certain is that Netflix members can now reserve the free instant streaming disc by heading to this site right here.

Press Release Quote:
"Initially, watching movies instantly streamed from Netflix via the PS3 system will be enabled by a free, instant streaming Blu-ray disc that is being made available to all Netflix members. The free instant streaming disc leverages Blu-ray’s BD-Live™ technology to access the Internet and activate the Netflix user interface on the PS3 system, which must be online via Wi-Fi or Ethernet."
The way this reads it's meaning that starting off PS3 users will have to use the blu-ray disk to access netflix, meaning later they will have a better more accessible solution to access netflix on the PS3, not charge for the service.

I get that the 8.99 is for a netflix plan and not an additonal charge. Looks like to me any 9 dollar plan will come with this for free and I think it is probably the plan with 1 dvd at a time unlimited.

But on PS3 games and everything else share same space. Not much space left as I download demo's and watch movies.
Btw... Europe wont get Netflix for *****..... We still ain't getting movies from PSN. I would pay for movies from PSN if they "were" availiable....
