I believe you took the section of the press release where it said "initially" in the wrong context.

The free instant streaming disc leverages Blu-ray’s BD-Live™ technology to access the Internet and activate the Netflix user interface on the PS3 system, which must be online via Wi-Fi or Ethernet."



The way this reads it's meaning that starting off PS3 users will have to use the blu-ray disk to access netflix, meaning later they will have a better more accessible solution to access netflix on the PS3, not charge for the service.

"For only $8.99 a month, Netflix members can instantly watch unlimited movies and TV episodes streamed to their TVs and computers via Netflix ready devices such as the PS3 system and can receive unlimited DVDs delivered quickly to their homes."



I get that the 8.99 is for a netflix plan and not an additonal charge. Looks like to me any 9 dollar plan will come with this for free and I think it is probably the plan with 1 dvd at a time unlimited.

what demonfreak says because that's also in the blog which if you read it means it will be free to Netflix customers which you have to be in order to use it. There is no add on for 8.99 for non-netflix subscribers as the 8.99 plan as shown on netflix website is a 1 dvd at a time unlimited dvd plan which further proves my argument that it is free. This is way better than what Microsoft offers which is if you look at it is free if you play online since you already need live but if you don't and just want it for netflix it would cost you 40 dollars a year if you know where to buy it and sometimes 30 dollars on a nice sale or 50 if your dumb and just pay MS directly.

I don't even think the 360 has netflix for the Europe. But you guys have all the other stuff. That BBC app some kind of music thing which I think might or might not have come out. That free Video thing whatever its called I heard was great. Play TV as well. So.... wouldn't be complaining much about this I would be happy with what you guys have.

would people in europe really shell out 9 dollars a month to watch a limited number of movies instantly when we in America pay 9 dollars a month to get any DVD from Netflix's expansive library and watch a limited amount streaming because it is not an add on fee as QJ puts it out to be but an addition to what you get with the 9 dollars + plans

$8.99 is the plan with on dvd through the mail at a time a long with unlimited streaming. I have the 3 disc at a time deal with the blu-ray option and of course unlimited streaming for about $25 monthly. It is well worth it. A better deal than cable movie channels in my opinion. It is also way better than shelling out the same amount of money for only 3 or 4 Playstation Video Store movie rentals too.

Does america not have download limits or sumthing?, i thought it was a common thing around the world, my limits 15gbs a month.... thats why this streaming thing wouldnt make a lick of difference to me, or most people here(from New Zealand)

Most of the standard plans in major cities of the U.S and Canada give you 50-100 gigs a month, then as you pay for faster/premium plans you get upwards of 200gigs and unlimited....

well, the cool thing in Germany is, that we have no download limits. None. You can get a 16 Mbits for 30 bucks a month with unlimited download traffic.

Americans do download pirate movies, just not as much as other country do. So it is not a cap issue here.
