The NASCAR gaming franchise may have been dropped by EA Sports some two years ago, but that doesn't mean we can't have any more great racing games out there. Blake Davidson, managing director of licensed products at NASCAR, gives his two thumbs up for Gran Turismo 5.

"They're going to do it better than anybody's ever done it before," he said. "It's really the next step for us, it's the best depiction of what NASCAR cars are in any driving game to date."

He even threw in some praises for GT5 developer, Polyphony Digital: "Dale Earnhardt, Jr. himself actually came to us and said 'you really need to look at Polyphony Digital. They're a great developer, the best in the world at what they do."

All that and more can be found in this video he posted in the PlayStation Blog. Check it out right here:

Gah! Stop cutting out just before Jeff hits the wall!! :P I hope they have vehicle damage in the Nascar races and not just fenders and doors flapping like in the other races.

I'm trying to keep Jr. as my favorite driver, but ever since he switched teams it seems like he hasn't been doing very well, but most of the time when he seems to be doing well somebody wrecks into him (not the other way around) near the end of the race. His finish at Daytona was amazing! (and lucky :P ) I watched him on race view the entire time and what baffled me is that he kept going for the middle line of 3 wides the entire time which really baffled me because 90% of the time the middle line seems to get you pushed back, but on the last lap he finally got a good push (not physical) from behind while he was in the middle line and got pushed from 10th to second on the last lap! WOW! :o

Can't wait for GT5!

Except in Gran turismo, there's that dreaded right turn * *

Going in circles over and over again stopped being fun for me when I was 6 or so, that's why I love GT. Real tracks, real driving skills.
