Soulcalibur 4 - Image 1After word of some pretty hefty install sizes for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Soulcalibur 4 came out of the rumor mill yesterday, Namco Bandai has gone into rumor-squashing mode.

According to Kotaku, the company has said that the supposed installation sizes for the PS3 version of Soulcalibur 4 are "not accurate and are significantly overblown". Rumors pegged the install size at 8.5 GB, with 6.5 GB used for the game installation and a whopping 2 GB for save data.

Namco Bandai has so far refrained from releasing any exact figures, but according to a company rep, the actual amount of free space needed is "inline with other games requiring this feature."

The company also hasn't addressed rumors of hard drive requirements for Soulcalibur 4's Xbox 360 version. It should be noted however that the "Hard Drive Required" tag has been removed from the game's info page on Xbox.com.

Buy: [Soulcalibur 4 (PlayStation 3), (Xbox 360)]

So that would be installing the whole game on the hdd, pretty much. I hope this isn't true. I don't see why they would have us do this seeing that past Soul Calibur games loaded up fast and even if Soul Calibur 4 made us wait 2 to 3 times longer, that would still be pretty short because these games loaded pretty fast anyway. Oh well, maybe one of these days when newer game systems come out, they will use disc drives with more than one lens to read more info at the same time. I wonder why no one has implemented that technology yet.

» 2gb for save data?

Anyone who actually believed the rumor from that very statement don't even deserve to play the game anymore.

» Easy to guess

Its cheaper to use a hard drive than to impliment a dual headed hard drive. Besides, the PS3 lets you upgrade the hard drive to any laptop hard drive... so 8 gb isn't that big a deal.

» true dat.

its a big game im sure, but 8 gigs big?

no,not at all...4gigs at the most i would say.

but if you really believe it takes 8gigs then by all means you proclaimed yourself stupid.

lol, that isn't the whole game, a blu-ray disk holds 50gb of data, that would only be a small percentage.

» sounds like bullcrap to me

the whole Tekken 5 game is only like 775mb or something.

» true..

But remember, it lacks most of the pre-rendered cutscenes. Plus it has last-gen graphics and such. XD.

» ^ You're dumb

Soulcalibur 4 is an X360 title, so it can't be over 8.9 GB. Don't matter if a BR disk can hold 50 GB...

Rumor obviously isn't true anyway. 2 GB for saves? Yea sure
