It seems a Neon Genesis Evangelion game is in the works for the Sony PlayStation 3. What appears to be an announcement for the new game has been spotted in a fold-in included in the Japanese Blu-ray release of the anime Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone.

Logos on the ad show that Namco Bandai and Cellius, Inc. are attached to the project. Cellius is the Sony-Namco Bandai joint company headed by Ken Kutaragi, the brains behind the PlayStation console.

You'll also notice that there are game IDs at the bottom of the ad. SLPS 25932 and ULJS 00201 refer to the PS2 and PSP versions of Evangelion: JO!, respectively. So maybe it's a PS3 version of JO!?

Hope it's not some lame 2D interactive storyboard BS like most anime games are. I'd like to actually take control of the characters in 3D spaces. We'll see what it's like.

I hope it's a decent action game as well. Battle Orchestra had a decent idea if somewhat terrible controls, and the one way back on the N64 was pretty good if perhaps unfocused and short.

» It's the remakes

As far as I know the original Eva series isn't yet released on blu-ray, but the re-telling of the story that they're doing (in a four part movie set) is slowly being released on both dvd/br.
