MotorStorm tops Japan PS3 charts |

It's been around a month now that the PS3 got ushered into Japan. Among the launch titles they had lined-up, Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire was one of them. Some of us know how the entire Gundam franchise has such a solid fan-base in Japan. So, given that, it comes as one heck of a surprise that the top-selling title in their country right now is actually MotorStorm!
What's surprising about this? 1)Gundam came out during launch and MotorStorm just only a few days ago. They beat a game which had a few weeks' advantage! And 2) Evolution Studios is based in UK, and now they're topping international charts with their high-octane racer. You'd think that the Japanese would support Japanese-developed games like Gundam more than that of UK? Not necessarily, and this is proof of that!
Evolution Studios CEO Martin Kenwright has this to say:
It's a real coup for Evolution. Developing MotorStorm has certainly not been easy - but the team here really delivered... We really needed to up the ante with [the PS3]. We're delighted that the public has agreed with the press, and made MotorStorm the current Japanese number one [PS3] title. We canÂ’t wait to see how it performs throughout the rest of the world.
Pop the corks and let the champagne flow! That's one clear-cut achievement they've pulled off!

you know, people who get all excited about first posts. are gay, so just to burst your bubble and since i have lots and lots of free time on my hands(and get paid for it) i will now first post every article FIRST POST!!! *dies* XD
Great news, it's good to see a UK based developer get some respect and attention in the land of the rising sun. The majority of great games come from Japan imo, it's good to see the UK getting recognised, there are some awesome developers in this country.
why is it that japan got this so much sooner than the rest of the world, it comes from the UK and japan gets it first? what do they have to change to get it to the US, there is no region coding for games I don't get it.
Motorstorm for the japs, doesn't have onlie play, if you want it , go ahead and order it
Japan gets Motorstorm minus online play.. everywhere else gets Motorstorm with online play.
You get later, with Online play added onto it. So you're not missing much.
I've preordered this game the day I preordered my PS3 at gamestop. I think that was in October. Anyways, I've trusted this game so much, that I already have it paid in full(taxes and all). I'm glad it delivers. I can't wait till march. Oh! And I can't wait for online play. Just getting into clans or 'gangs' and smash other cars into oblivion. Using a bluetooth headset will rock too. Oh god, I'm so excited!
So they will get it now - and we will wait. Simple and efficient.
I've played the game for two days now and it's a blast! A great title, but I am eagerly waiting for the online play too. Should be a ton of fun in the net. A must, must buy.
if it worked in japan, man it can work everywhere! wow, evolution impress me now! winning japan over is NOT an easy task at ALL! this is looking great ( it's what? the 1st time that a game from outside japan tops in japan? lol )
and it f'n rawked. Now.. I don't own a PS3 :`( but I got to play motor storm at a local store and it was just amazing.
It is only tops for the PS3. That probably means it sold about 60,000 copies. Pokemon Diamond still sells over 90,000 units on a weekly basis.
