Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe - Image 1

Looks like Midway bought more time for itself, beating away its creditors to avoid bankruptcy. How are they spending that time? Making a new Mortal Kombat game. Great news for those who <3 Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3).

I can't tell whether this is good news or bad news. You decide.

The press release stated that MK vs DC already shipped 1.8 million units, and also revealed other numbers out to impress its investors. According to the PR, the game was the most pre-ordered MK title in company history, and that more than 3.6 million matches have been played online worldwide for the PS3.

I wish Midway all the best, but if they're going to continue what they've done with MK vs DC, I think the tradition of M-rated Mortal Kombat games has just suffered a fatality. </3

» I hope midway survives

MK vs. DC Universe is a pretty good game. Not the best in the franchise history IMO, but still good. Midway should release some PSN & XBL downloads to help generate some more revenue. MK Trilogy for PS1 classics would be a good idea for PSN or even some of their classic arcades.

» nope.

Ed Boon already said that the next MK after this one will continue the traditional storyline, it won't be a crossover. Boon said a long time ago, I think during the development of Deadly Alliance that he was highly interested in doing a crossover game like this.

With their recent success, I'm happy to think that Midway Games doesn't have to worry about bankruptcy anymore. Bring on the next MOORRTTAALLL KOOMMBBAAATTT!! !!

So the next MK game should be the end of evil and the forces of good finally free the realms or the other way around. ;p

Maybe they should consider an MK MMO that might make some of the loyal fans happy, i just want to see what it would look like as long as it isn't another boring MMO.

» my opinion

Maybe coming out with another MK:shaolin monks. I have to admit that was a kick-ass game with excellent co-op multiplayer, goo d graphics and storyline. I would love to see a continuation of that, with bigger storyline, bigger enviroments, and more characters. I would sure as hell get one of those if it were to come and that might get them out of the slump and put them higher.

» soooo

soooo, they're making a new MK.. more cookie-cutting action at its worst - ALL RIGHT! seriously if they want to get themselves out of the slump. they need to take a page out of a good fighting game's book and make a decent fighting game. lol so they ship 1.8 million. that's more than enough!XD i really don't care if midway makes it or not. they shouldn't for the simple fact that they are FAR too complacent with the quality of their games. i can make a better fighting game with fighter maker lol! if they really want to make it, like i said they need to throw their current engine out the window. start from scratch, add some freakin depth to the fighting, change fatalities in some way (keep them but change the way they're executed), and obviously u need customization options and deep single player game modes.
