Noob.com - Mortal Kombat teaser website - Image 1Just days ago, Midway Games CEO David Zucker announced that the next-gen debut of Mortal Kombat is following its timetable very well. Apart from that, details have been very elusive - that is, until a mysterious website bearing the game's logo and a countdown timer appeared.

Seeing that April Fools Day is right around the corner, it is normal to speculate that this is a prank. However, the webpage, Noob.com, is owned by Midway Games and is registered to Ed Boon, which - if you have forgotten - is the co-creator of Mortal Kombat.

What else is there besides the countdown? There are images of a rhinoceros, an aardvark, a gorilla, and an elephant. Underneath these pictures are cryptic numbers which translates to "free klose" when recoded by matching the numbers with letter positions in the alphabet.

The last time QJ.NET came across a countdown, Street Fighter IV was revealed. What could it be this time? Bear in mind that this April 17, closely seventeen days from now, Midway will celebrate Gamers' Day. This is shaping out into something. A big announcement, perhaps?

QJ.NET shall report the latest updates as we get them. In the meantime, see the website for yourself over at the via link.

this visual kode refers to the RAGE engine they're using for the next Mortal Kombat.

» hmm

Good eye there, kazuya. I was thinking that the animals could be a reference to the return of animalities. What could the count down be for? A release date? Or maybe the game's unveiling?

I for one, hope they didn't just simply keep the fighting engine from the last few games and add a fresh coat of paint to it. If they do something new, this title will be gold.

» I was hoping..

They do a better Shaolin Monk but it like not 3D side scrolling but more like a Viking Battle of Asgard game. Also, they don't have to rush it... just make sure if covers a lot of chars and you can play as them etc etc. The last SM was a bit too rushed yet I really like it.
