More Trophy hackers running loose on PSN |
Listed in: PS3 Tags: playstation 3 updates, PlayStation Network, trophies and achievements
Trophies. Ideally, you get them only because you earned them. Be it a headshot on a jumping enemy, collecting treasures, or acquiring every item in a game, Trophies are proof of what you've been able to accomplish, regardless of whether you go out of your way to earn them or not. Some gamers, however, are taking their Trophy-lust to an unhealthy level, resorting to Saved Game hacks to obtain the coveted badges.
Case in point:
Fuel, SOCOM: Confrontation, and more recently, Modern Warfare 2 have all been subject to the Trophy hacking. This practice is definitely not new. Those who tried to pull it off on Xbox Live subsequently got the weighty Microsoft banhammer. Sony, however, hasn't been seen addressing the issue, and according to PS3 Sense, they don't seem to care.
As it is, more and more PSN accounts are getting levelled up with two-minute Platinums. The last firmware update, 3.15, did not appear to resolve the matter, so we'll leave this up in the air for discussion.

I'm sure we all have some "up all night to get X achievement/trophy" (I know I do, lmao) Or gotten into some GS/trophy competition with a buddy. Personally I've found a lot of people really don't look unless they're close to you, it does get kind of silly explaining how you got certain ones...
Do people really just accumulate a crazy amount of these for chest beating/bragging rights, possibly. If you genuinely earned them that's fine, brag on, but if you just copied a save file or pulled an exploit, that really does say a lot about you.
(It's kinda like going out on a date, and the guy stuffs his pants with a sock. Yeah it might look good, but eventually people will know it's a lie)

I know a dude who got banned for hacking SOCOM, Sony gave him the total hardcore r@pe ban. His PS3 can never connect to PSN again, and all his accounts have been locked. He lost all the PSN points on his main acct, all his DLC, all his PSN games, all his everything.
I will admit I used the Fuel hack for lulz. And because that POS game realllllly pissed me off

So yeah, just so ppl know, Sony is banning some, and taking it way too far lol

Why hack Trophies ? The only thing you can do with them is show them off right ?

No one even looks at them man. I have like 3 Platinum trophies and do people say damn you a badass? Nope. Trophies are just there for people to play games over again.

Modern warfare 2 for instance, you can co op with someone of very high amount of skill and beat 3 star missions without much effort.
Spelunker/Spelunker black, you can get both plats if you just play with good enough people online and can play decently even without a high amount of skill you just got to be able to find all the mural pieces.
Buzz quiz tv, its seriously too tedious to plat the game normally, so its no shock that most people just do the glitch
this is not a problem AT ALL, there are a few games with glitchs good or bad, take god of war 2 a lot of people got glitched out of boss batch 3, i beat the game 3 times all in 1 long cycle all 3 times and never got the trophy leaving me at 97% forever. there are a lot of other problems too, very few people are buying these games over trophy glitchs/playing over trophy glitchs i mean how is this any different than plating up? or a lot of other things? how do you know people actually earned any number of trophies? so many games have glitchs/exploits not exactly for trophies but its in no way something sad...

ninja gaiden sigma 2, theres a glitch where you get trophies for watching certain videos or something, who really cares?
demons souls, I use to enjoy this game till the server died down and now when i co op if they have their body they just do everything they can to stay alive and win, so i could in theory win like that or resort to cheap tactics like poison cloud false king...
dragon age origins, theres a ton of leveling glitchs and gold glitchs, making it a lot easier to do!
little big planet, just co op with some people who know that their doing and you can get every prize bubble by just running to the exit... not like you need to do the work to earn them all =\
ratchet and clank, there were 4 DLC packs which made you more powerful at the start making the game overall easier twords the start so you could easily plat it with more HP than normal
dead space, armor DLC makes you do more dmg and have more shielding
I can go on for a while more and mention others doing the work, but their your achievements... and only you will have a idea of how hard/easy the tasks really are!

I think at some point people forget that games are designed to be fun, and doing a glitch for modern warfare 2 might downplay your achievements but really their all ment for people to enjoy themself, and if people find it fun to play childish games for a score, thats cool with me.
if they decide to bring the machine to parties/school *happens a lot here* to get achievements, thats just them having fun.
or if they decide they just want to save themself from a grind thats perfectly alright too!
I personally think "Glenn M." and the other people whom have posted so far, have forgot that cheating and exploits and codes have been used in games for ages and have always been perfectly alright, i doubt anyone would denounce someone for using game genie to beat battletoads or using the x99 item glitch in pokemon back in the day... so why is it suddenly wrong to do so now just because theres a icon saying we did it? I see it more so sad that you would denounce someone having fun, over a icon... than someone having fun their way in hopes/in the process gaining a Icon.

Your opinion of "having fun" can vary. If you think it's "fun" to have a score of 41-2 because you're sniping from a normally unreachable rooftop or skyscraper, then your "fun" isn't that fun to others. It's just called cheating. And there's no justifying that.

blazblue has a few online trophies, mostly for just playing games online, i can boost games but if i boost lets say me and my friend goof around playing 200 matchs for trophies you gonna call us cheaters because were having fun? doubtful
tekken has a few 1 for winning a online ranked match, i dont know of any glitchs there... perhaps people spam law or someone else ungodly cheap but thats a IMBA problem not a glitch problem
most games with online trophies, are either gain able over time by default, or easily boost able with another person go ask someone how hard the air turret ribbons were, most people had to BOOST to get those which got trophies in the process, but its not like anyone is gonna care if i hack my level to general you just naturally get that, and since KZ 2 matchs off level ill just get owned all day/night =\ *seriously i got top 1%/general in my first week of playing just playing naturally*
i can keep going but most games that have online lack trophies for it, and if they do its stuff that you naturally get like Play 1 ___ style match in uncharted, heal 5 people on ___ map in killzone 2, etc...
however this article isnt about those because most of them, people boosted for anyways, or are unable to get due to lack of players like in bad company, spelunker, far cry 2, etc. thus making your point moot

Until they figure out a way to cheat at life then they'll always be pathetic people with very low self esteem.

I like them, they add replay value, Goals to meet out side the game's goals. But even I wouldn't stoop this low. What sense of accomplishment is there to "Cheating" for your trophies.
I don't get it.
I'm proud of my 5 platinums I have, I had to EARN them all. Took me a while, but in the end I felt quite accomplished.
This hacking just ruins the point to Trophies.
*Rages for the rest of the day*
