While we covered the news of Team Xecuter announcing their new PS3 project- the Hypredrive, I was left wondering about the purpose of such humongous space. I mean, while I do have about 2TB of storage space on my PC, it's a PC after all. On the PS3, you'd be left searching for stuff to fill up the hard disk.Or would you? Well, not according to Team Xecuter and Paradox, it seems. Paradox, while being a warez release group, have a lot of firsts to their credit, including the first PSP ISO dump, and the first PS3 BDRay dump, among other things. And if they are to be believed, the illegal scene is not far off from being successful at booting games off the hard-disk. For now, we have nothing but a small snippet of the release info courtesy of Maxconsole.

While we wouldn't know much until it was officially let out of the bag, I have a hunch that cracking the PS3 will be a bit easier than the Xbox360, simply because of the reason that its OS is pretty close to what we've had on the PSP. Second, a lot of file formats are identical to the respective PSP versions. And while the PS3 might have more security than a PSP, we can be sure that the first few firmware versions will still be pretty insecure.
And while we can't say that we're happy with the news, a part of me wants to rejoice simply because of the fact that the "scene" is hard at work on the PS3. And again, while piracy will be a big problem, you have to remember that a large contention of people will also be looking for homebrew on the PS3's XMB like on the PSP. Anyways, stay tuned for the latest updates!

i prefer booting games off my ps2 hdd as it makes load times A LOT shorter, and its much easier to organize all my games with no need to swap.
this would be good with the ps3.
but i never bootleg off a new console, give the companies your money for at least a year or so, just so they wont stop making games since they no its gonna be bootlegged.
I can't wait for the emulators to start pouring out, whether it be on YDL or from the XMB! That's when I'll jump on the modding bandwagon.

This really annoys me so bad. ISO and stuff like that is illegal and damages companies badly, take sega for example they went bust because of fraud. It annoys me so much that fanboys are so obbsessed with their next game they dont want to pay for it so they will steal it. Not only will this result in Sony becoming bankrupt or close, but it also damages great game devlopers who paid a lot of money to devlop a game that we will all enjoy. QJ shouldn't even be posting this! In fact im reporting both the devlopers who are doing this and Qj to sony now becuase it really annoys me!
Don't worry, we don't cover piracy. But this is news, and like anything else, it has to be reported. At this point, it's nothing more than speculation on our part, and I think we have a right to that little bit of indulgence :)

I dont mind some homebrew progs and games, but as long as there are tools being made that can also be used for hacking and illegal actions, there will always be people that will do just that. Maybe if all hte current developers of homebrew can come to an agreement not to make any possibly illegal tools or just protect their tools/programms then the industry won't be hurt.
I really like some Marvel vs Capcom (mame) on my future PS3, but i despise the fact that there will be illegal games out there because of the tools used to convert the mame emulator.

the fact that ps3 supports linux and 750Gb drive means its only a matter of time before we start using Iso to play game...and if someone manages to burn the iso to a blu-ray disc....that mean sony will make billions of dollars buy selling the blu-ray license to 3rd party makers....the fact is there are millions of people in the middle-east...parts of china and russia and many other locations that use pirated software...those are people that never buy official products and buy hundreds of pirated games and movies....if sony make a few cents from every blu-ray disc slod there....theyl make a fortune....they wouldnt be shooting themselves in the foot since those markets don buy official products anyway....so sony will get extra coin from sellin the blu-ray disc blanks in HUUUUUUUGE quantities....the game is over...sony wins....NEXT

but not because of the games, but rather the blue ray format, one of the reasons for the creation of the blue-ray was to stop piracy, imagine that so early in it's lifetime a machine allows to hack + store movies in its hard disc, this is a problem with the big studios, to make movies to a format that had being break so easy, it can change the tide in the HD-DVD, Blue Ray Format.

blu-ray will stop or hinder piracy in the important region markets in countries that have proper copyright laws....A.K.A[those are the countries that are the big studios main concern]...like north america,europe...etc
since you cant gain acces to a blue-ray movie from those places..or its hard to gain acces..unlike the dvd you cant download torrents from the net due to speed and time...and you dont expect to buy pirated disc in the streets since thats unlikely to happen....so blu-ray will be far more secure in those markets....

I do not want the PS3 to have ISO loading. think about it. If it is given ISO loading, than there will be no more good games for it, because the developers won't put a lot of money into their ps3 games. Would you make a game if you knew few people were going to buy the game, and many were going to pirate it? It happened to the psp. It has only a few good games. If you want your console to fail, than ISO loading is the easiest way to do it. Sony isn't against homebrew, it is against ISO loading.

First of all. The term fanboy is queerer than AIDS. Secondly, I have a ps2, in fact I've had three of them and everyone I know that has had one has had to get another one. Their lifespan is short. I also have a xbox, the same one I bought on launch day, still tickin like a champion..... Could this be why they sold so many more units, when a guy has numerous games for a console allready they are pretty much screwed into buying the same console. This is why I won't get a ps3 for a few years until I get a feel for their reliability. If its anything like the ps2 no thank you. Can you imagine, if the ps2 was 600 dollars Id be 1,800 deep. Scary thought. For some reason I think Sony is aware of this dilema and its part of their scheme.
Funny how I have the exact opposite results....I have my ORIGINAL launch day PS2 that I still use as my main DVD player besides its use as a console. Meanwhile I have seen my friends Xbox's with DRE's , christmas lights (with no mods), and failure to even turn on.
My PS2 even has an old Messiah 2 modchip and it reads Princo 8x DVD-R's with no problems. Now I am not crapping on the Xbox as I have one that is modded and works fine but I have always been of the mind if you don't know how to keep things clean or you are a messy/careless person then that is when ANYTHING electronic has problems.

My Xbox stopped working a few days before the Xbox 360 came out. My friend's ps2 (original launch model) is still working like a charm.

-Piracy (although a problem) has some benefits, for instance, in my country a lot of people who bought the ps2, would have never done it if it wasn't modchipped in the first place.
-Good Games will sell well no matter how fast piracy can spread. Developers just need to come up with better games. Just look at game sales of GTA, MGS, RE4, etc.
-Hacking the PS3 would surely be a problem for PS3 game sales, but for the PS3 Hardware and Blue Ray format it would be and incredible advantage over its competition, and Sony knows it. The question is, which one is more important for them?
