More on the PS3 Intercooler |
Ó
Wondering what the Nyko Intercooler for the PS3 will look like? Look at the image on the right. We'll let you decide if its faltering or not, anyway, the cooler will be shipping mid-January and the retail price should be around US$ 24.99.Yeah, Sony will probably take the stance that Microsoft had with the 360 cooler, but you never know. Nyko did brag about their good "relationship with Sony."
We'll update you if Sony decides to say anything about the new cooler.

first first 1st...everyone below me sucks. sony sucks
Sony is f'ucking ***** I agree
These the same people that made that one for the 360 and some of them damaged the 360?
lol the cooler should just be a fire extinguisher. knowing sony products.. unless this thing uses liquid nitro, theres nothing gonna cool this thing
It's just to fool the consumer and make a few bucks THIS IS WHAT CAPITALISM HAS LEAD TO
PS3 doesn't need a cooler. What is the point of this add-on? Is it for people who leave the console inside the closet in its original packaging?
what a waste of money...
I keep mine on most of the time because if I'm not playing PS3 games, I'm running a web server off of it. Its kept in a good large cabinet and haven't had any overheating issues whatsoever. They are just playing on the fears of people who think it will overheat like the Xbox360.
Yea unlike some the Ps3 doesnt need this. Dont Buy Dont need.
No need for a cooler, It runs fine just like it is. Yea it gets hot after six hours of gaming or so but so does my pc. just dont be a dumbass and sit it on the carpet, block the vents or go for months without dusting it. I swear this thing is like an Ionic Breeze it catches more dust that my houses' air filter.
i prefer liquid kryptonite...8+++D
i'm sure most of you guys making comments about needing a fire extinquisher haven't even *touched* a PS3, because, if you have, you would know that, surprisingly, the system is extremely cool. even after extended play. it gets warm, of course, but overheat? no. crashes constantly because of it? no. Nyko is just trying to cash in on a perception that new consoles get hot. what i find the most ironic about the PS3, however, is that it's actually quiter than a Wii (i have both consoles, and the Wii is louder, oddly enough. you can barely hear the PS3 when it's on, causing you to double check the green light to make sure). people seriously need to accept that Sony made a quality system this time around (i mean, aside from that one story, how many overheating, crashing, exploding PS3 stories, that were actually true, have you heard? test units and demo kiosks don't count, as those things get run constantly, and are generally enclosed in a tight space). the PS3 is a solidly built piece of machinery, and while i'm sure it'll have it's issues functionality wise, thus far, it's been good. the 360 was flooded with complaints within it's first month, i've hear nary a peep about the PS3 (except for fabricated stories about the PS3 burning houses down).
Considering that the PS3 has a cooling system that is more or less the bottom half of the console ;) it will not likely over heat. Plus it has a very efficient blower to help the heat sink spread and vent (sounds almost pornographic). My Ford Aspire has a smaller fan on my radiator.
The PS3 has very good cooling already, but anything can be improved. I can't comment on the Intercooler's ability to cool, but one thing is clear: it won't have the power issues that plagued the 360 version. This device scavenges AC power -- directly from your wall -- before it gets to the PS3. It's no different than using an extension cord. This is a big change from the 360 model, where the Intercooler sits between the AC/DC adaptor and the 360 console, scavenging its power from the already-reduced-and-converted power from the brick. Apples and oranges, here, and this situation is much preferable.
my friends PS3 overheated 30 mins after turning it on, anyone else get this issue? I guess he probably needs a cooler.
of course it does, have you seen the big freaking fan inside of it. I saw in a teardown video like a fan that takes up half the room inside the box. Its only one fan too running very slow. Im surprised the PS3 doesnt get even hotter
i never have overheating problems and mines on almost all the time. just ask vietone, my icon must say online whenever he comes on, and i always froget to set myself to away
I think Sony's cooling system does not need any help.
Having a big fan spin at a low RPM is the only way to move enough air yet still keep the thing quiet.
You have really reliable story there don't you. "Well 'my friends' ...Such and such... and this and that."
!
my friends 360 overheated 30 mins after turning it on, anyone else get this issue? i guess he porbably needs a cooler.
i might get it, though my ps3 doesn't overheat at all... i'll get it anyways to make sure that it doesn't overheat... i just hope it's not load or anything...
