Yes, I do. Cherish you. For the rest of my life. How did the rest of the song go again?

Square Enix can be so tight-lipped. Jump Festa 2006 had the potential to bleed loads of new Final Fantasy XIII (or the rest of the Fabula Nova Crystallis, for that matter), but so far, not much popped. We got a Tetsuya Nomura interview for Versus which didn't say much, either (except that he does hope there'll be gameplay vids next year), not many videos to show, and in the name of all that is Holyga, no one, except probably them behind the walls of Squeenix, knows the name of FFXIII's heroine!

Well, to satisfy the growing hunger of Final Fantasy fans everywhere (a hunger deeper than any Graviga spell you've thrown), at least Jeux-France has a few nicer-quality screencaps of whatshername, as well as images of a few other elements. Some may be familiar from the trailer, while others we may not have seen before. While there are screens which do look like they're just a few frames after some of the other screens you've seen in the past, they still show more of the game's target graphic quality, what could possibly turn out to be the GUI, and of course, whatshername.

With an ambitious aim of hoping to get a playable build of the game ready in time "for E3 2007" (what are they calling the new one now?), we all cross our fingers hoping to death that they would meet this ambitious aim and give us something to celebrate with huge fireworks explosions in all Mako reactors.

In the meantime, this writer only asks that Squeenix grant him one gift for the new year: by the Occuria, tell me, what is her name?!?!?! And... is she single?

?

what's wrong with blue dragon? Ever since FFX squeenix has sucked major donkey balls when it comes to the new FF games...all catering to the "new" goth/emo/spoiled teenagers of the world. they have *****ed up the FF series. luckily the creators of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey will restore what true rpgs should be like.

...

^^ Totally your opinion. IMO, Blue Dragon doesn't seem any good what so ever. I don't care who makes it. Even it was from the original staff of past FF's, they should at least make it seem more interesting in hoping to make it a bigger success than FF since their best work was done in old school FF's.

Traditional is losing its stuff

I for one dislike traditional RPGs. They are slow paced and boring in comparison to newer RPGs. FFXII for example is an awesome, nearly perfect RPG that takes aspects from old RPGs and improves it alot. Its like Kingdom Hearts and FFX put together but with a story line that keeps me interested instead of some love story. Active Battle systems are the best thing for RPGs as turn based games are losing it because of its boringness and after 4 games of turn based RPGs, an active system is so much more appealing.

i know her name

On a Dutch PS3 site (ps3focus.nl) they got some more info from the JF2006 event: her name is Lightning(problaby gonna change that i hope) the floating city u see in the screenshot is called Coccoon and the rest of the world beneath it is Pulse. There is some kind of war between them. THE new thing at the end of the trailer is when Lightning is surrounded by enemies, a new male character shows up on a motorbike with blond hair. Im not joking, they havent said exactly what else features that guy has so ITS NOT A CLOUD REFERANCE!!!

info dutch ps3 site

I read the article on that site (PS3focus.nl) too. Although the name Lightning was mentioned, they also said it wasn't confirmed whether that said name is the actual name or just a code name. Furthermore, here's a quote from the site (be it a different source): "It's a world of the future in which society exists within a flying city called Cocoon protected by advanced robotic technology. The world below is called Pulse. From what I gathered, somehow the people of Cocoon have come into contact with the world of Pulse. This has caused them to distrust each other and has brought strife to the civilization. Therefore, the government has taken intitative to take all people who show signs of interaction with the outside world and banishing them to Pulse. I believe Pulse, however, is the natural world where crystals thrive. And crystals give men the power to control their destinies and mold the world to their desires. The crystals have chosen 'Lightning' to end the world." Given that 'Lighning' is to end the world, maybe that means that te character(s) in FF vs XIII is to prevent her from doing so, hence the 'versus'. (Just a theory) Keep in mind though that all of this information haven't been confirmed, because the Dutch article is based on previews. (Pardon me for possibly using some incorrect English. lol)

?

Blue Dragon: what's wrong with it? It's not on Ps3(or will be.) FFXIII: Whats wrong with it? It's not on Xbox360(or will be.) As for f'ing up the FF series, I like the new battle style, their story has got a bit crappier, but oh well, I enjoy hunts. As for The Last Odyssey...the game looks like some bad dream someone had. The people in the preview look like someone had a good idea, but a bad designer.

I agree.

All you old school Final Fantasy Weeaboos can get *****ed. I mean the old FF's were awesome, but you don't have to idolize them and diss every new one that comes out.

And....

"luckily the creators of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey will restore what true rpgs should be like." What makes you think that? I saw nothign in those demos that showed anything new or interesting. Blue Dragon looks fun but the story did provide me with anythign interesting. Seems like the usualy IMO. Oddessy is another one that seems to be the usual. I saw the trailer and I didn't care much for it. Regular turn base with the same moves over and over. Innovation is great and thats why I'm really interested to see what Square has to offer in this new FF. Also, White Knight has me almost excited as this new FF with how its battle system looks so far.
