Dead Rising 2 - Image 1

If you've been wondering why the heck Frank West got a hairstyle and overall cosmetic change in all the Dead Rising 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) assets we've seen so far, well, it's because it's not Frank West. In the sequel, the hero is now the motorcycle jacket-wearing Chuck Greene. That's him up there.

This was revealed in a recent Famitsu issue that spilled all kinds of beans about the Dead Rising sequel. Along with Mr. Greene's grand reveal, the mag also mentioned that while Chuck's profession is still being kept under wraps, it will also have ties to the gameplay kinda like how Frank, a photojournalist, could rack up some experience by taking pictures.

The game itself still uses the original's basic premise: survive against a seemingly endless zombie onslaught for 72 whole hours. There are also more zombies this time around, but players will also get to wield more weapons and vehicles to lengthen their life expectancy.

Loading times have also been cut down thanks to new tech. Also when you kill zombies in one area, their bodies won't disappear anymore unless you actually move beyond another loading point. I can already picture myself walking amongst the bodies of fallen zombies like a Yellow Angel of Undeath or somesuch. Can't wait!

Dead Rising 2 has yet to get a specific release date, but it's been confirmed for a 2009 launch.
