Colin McRae: DIRT - Image 1

What type of game do we see the real power of next gen? Racers (for this writer atleast) showcase "realism" and take us on the driver's seat at insane speeds. Another upcoming title is bound to take a piece of the racer market, Colin McRae: DIRT from Codemasters.

You've seen the trailers, now we've got another batch of screenshots for the sixth title in the Colin McRae franchise. Colin McRae: DIRT promises to leave players with a gritty taste in their mouth after playing. With amazing graphics and an improved AI, will this multiplatform (PS3, Xbox360, PC) racer punch a dent on the current kings of the track (like MotorStorm for example)?

We'll be sure to give you updates on Colin McRae: DIRT. To keep yourself occupied for the meantime, check out the gritty screenshots.

» Im so sick of delays!

I find it ironic that Sony originally hired codemasters to develop this engine for PS3, then they were kind enough not to make it an exclusive engine, and now they are getting screwed to get DIRT later than the xbox.

This sucks, I want it for my PS3, yet I feel that I am forced to get the 360 version to play it sooner. Because you know when a company says, "to come soon after" that means it wont show up for like months on that console. *cough*cough* oblivion. *cough*cough* Rainbow Six.*cough*cough*GR AW 2

.....well you get the point

All those companies said "soon after" as well and look how long we had to wait for oblivion and Rainbow is still nowhere to be seen and GRAW still to come.

Im sick and tired of this. Im glad I bought both consoles for this reason. I just feel sorry for the people who just have a PS3.

Sad really because I love the PS3 so much better :(

I can understand your pain but I'm sure the developers are doing everything they can. The delay could even be due to Sony's rumored and very late addition of PS3 rumble and forced feedback after the Immersion patent settlement. I know if I was a PS3 owner I would want those features included.

As a 360 owner I'm glad the PS3 release isn't going to affect the 360 release date.

I'm looking forward to this release. I'm sure it's going to be a top notch title on all platforms.

» Looking awesome

perhaps even better than MotorStorm! I'm not sure those shots (trailers) come from PS3, maybe are from X360 instead. I hope that the mud and track deformation be as good as MotorStorm.

Now, although this game is off-road I think it will provide a different gameplay than MotorStorm, while Motor stand for wild and careless running, extremely cool crashes, providing a blast in every race, on the other hand, in a rally game no one want to run like crazy, much less crash their car, DIRT is for people who likes a more "realistic" off-racer.

» DIRT engine

Colin Mcrae Dirt is based upon a Scenegraph engine called PSSG that Sony has developed internally in their R&D department, they include this in the PS3 SDK and anyone can use it.

It is multiplatform and works on both PC and PS3. Codemasters have apparently ported the PC version to 360.

I don't know why Codemasters would delay the PS3 version though, might be related to networking or something similar.

» Yes another racing game and ?

Idiot there can never be enough of any game type as they are all different in their own ways and you forgot to mention FORZA 2 coming out next month which will proberly set the next gen landmark for driving games.

The 360 and PS3 will always be getting these type of games as their power makes them ideal for this format.
