Monolith is now enlisting your help in naming the sequel to its horror FPS game F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon). Now, the news of a sequel isn't much of a surprise, judging by how well the first game was received by critics and gamers alike. However, as reported a few months earlier, F.E.A.R. needs to get a new name. Why? Because of the Monolith's rift with publisher Vivendi SA is a video game developer; formerly known as Vivendi Universal">Vivendi, who still owns the F.E.A.R. name, Monolith is left with no choice but to release a game under a different name, but will share the same universe as the first game.

Help out Monolith by submitting your suggestions to nameyourfear.com, and you have until June 22 to think up of a good name. Monolith will then pick the best suggestions and put them up on the site where everyone is free to vote for their favorite name. It wouldn't hurt to try and think up of a name, so give it a shot!

If your brain needs jump-starting, Monolith has provide a couple of concept art as well as a short write-up about the game's concept for inspiration:

A monstrous explosion devastates an American city: thousands dead, innumerable injured.

Within the chaos, Alma awaitsÂ…

A child born with extraordinary psychic power, Alma was once the center of an advanced weapons research program. The program was designed to breed psychic commanders who could telepathically control an army of bioengineered soldiers. Despite her potential, her power proved uncontrollable - with deadly results. The program was closed and buried.

Some cruelty cannot remain hidden. Freed from the program's containment facility, Alma stalks a shattered city. Her motives are unknown.

Sent by the government, you must seek out the answers to the unfolding catastrophe. As the line between reality and nightmare blurs, Alma's suffering has just become yours.

Sometimes, ignorance is blissÂ… but not this time.

by You, yes, you... are trash (game addict). - 2007-06-05 13:42
» You, yes, you... are trash (game addict).

Don’t read this writing because garbage like you is not worth it. Are you still reading? You, kid just never listen to what others say. I feel sorry for you, moreover I feel pathetic for your mom and dad. Your parents work every day so you can go to school and eat lunch meals; and, your parents don’t even know that you waste hours every single day to play (computer or video) games and visit game-related websites.

You have some virtual gaming-life and crappy real life; and both are worthless, stupid, and sad. You’re a nuisance to your family members. Anyway, there’re many kinds of addictions: smoking, drugs, computer (video) games, gambling, porn addiction, alcohol, and so forth. All of the above are harmful in many ways on people. Things like drug are bad for your physical being; others like games are bad for your mental self.

One of my relatives is a game maniac (or just a game addict). She finally went to the general hospital because her family members couldn’t put up with her. She was sent to 2 doctors (psychiatrist and therapist) at the general hospital who work extensively for mental health department (substance abuse program). I read the handouts and pamphlets she brought. The following is the guideline to distinguish a game addict from non-addicts. If you play even one game (or games) 3 days or more every week, and more than 1 hour on any one day, then you are classified as a game addict; this is a truth, a flat fact; no arguing on this matter.

If you disagree with the above in the slightest, go and ask to your family physician. You may say you don’t have time to waste for such thing; of course, you probably don’t have time to visit your family doctor because you have to spend hours every single day to play games. You can’t even realise what you really are because right now you are the trash itself – you have become garbage so many years ago – the moment you have first played games like a crazy ret+rd 10 or 20 years ago. You have passed the stage where you can be cured; you are incurable since many years ago.

The handouts say that 98% of all addicts don’t even fully realize how severe their problems are. Isn’t playing games enough for you, kid? Merely wasting away your life by playing games isn’t enough? So, you need to waste at least a few more hours every single day to visit several game-related websites to watch and read game videos, game screenshots, and game news articles which are all about games? All of the above (game pictures, movies, new articles) are totally worthless and trashy. You’re garbage, too, period. It was very hard to find such worthless people (like you) during my university years (in Japan) because it was a selected institution; however, during my old high school years, I have seen hundreds of trashy ppl like you around me (because ANYONE can attend high school).

Right now, with your currently decayed mind, you can’t even think or rationalize clearly. You can’t even talk some reasonable and logical things about life. Your brain has been messed up. If you disagree... well... don’t make me laugh. Just don’t... kid.

You may wonder why I’m here on this gaming site right now. First of all, I never even waste 3 seconds to read either the game news articles or other comments posted by others. I came to this QJ site only to post this writing since this is the place which is full of game addicts. I wasted about 30 minutes to write this informal essay down. Also, I wasted about another 30 minutes to read those handouts and pamphlets from the hospital. Then I wasted about 2 minutes to post this writing.

I gave you this very good piece of advice which can (or may) improve or even change your life. However, I don’t have high hopes on you, kid, anyway. The handouts say that about 95% of all addicts are never cured until the days they die (of old age or by killing themselves). The reports also say that addicts have 190% more chance to commit suicide than non-addicts.

» You're an idiot!

We aren't all exactly addicts here pal! of us play for entertainment. Just as you may golf swim, watch tv. this is just another form of enetertainment. NOTHING MORE. now if you want to bring up Ssuicide and killing ourselves. alright, for example, if you take away my entertainment. I'd kill myself. and no dildo I'm not talking about just video games I mean everything. and last time I checked We are all just wasting our lives away. and so are you, we just choose to play a videogame or two as well as activities you'd do. I think you are just butthurt over something, really explain why you'd WASTE your TIME to come here and save a bunch of "game junkies" it doesn't makes sense does it. you b!tch about us wasting our lives, well then sir I'd like to b!tch about you wasting your life to think up and write out that piece of ***** essay, I mean seriously we'll take care of ourselves just F*ck off alright!

by JollyRoger - 2007-06-05 21:21
» Sorry for double post

and on another note most of us don't come her for the latest scoop on GTA IV! I come here, we come here for Hacks and Exploits. though there aren't many here PSPupdates.qj.net is loaded. and the people that bring us that content, they are game junky geniuses. cause they can code. which takes a brain but according to you, ours is fried so I'll stop WASTING YOUR TIME now and get back to wasting my own, because guess what? ITS MY OWN TIME TO WASTE

» what an idiot

What kind of grades did you get on your English courses? Not one of your sentences was put together properly. If you cant even put together a sentence, then what the hell are you doing trying to write an essay. Take baby steps, and start with proper sentences, then move on to paragraphs, and eventually you may be able to write an essay. Until then refrain from calling other people idiots, because you're just making yourself look like a fool. I'm a gamer and I probably double the amount of time that those pamphlets say constitutes an addict, and yet I can be more articulate and than the idiot that posted this garbage.
