Think Activision was only putting out peripherals for their rhythm games? Think again. Infinity Ward's upcoming first-person shooter, Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, and PC), may also get its own controller. If you're thinking of getting the Prestige Edition you might want to make sure you have some extra money for this as well.

There have been no concrete details regarding the controller yet, but what is sure is that infinity Ward has been getting involved in design meetings with whoever they've tapped to make it. MadCatz, maybe? Here's the Twitter message from Robert "fourzerotwo" Bowling that basically serves as a preliminary announcement:

I really feel these guys are milking on the success of Modern Warfare and making all these +$$ accessories and BS for the game. Seriously, stop.

agree..

yeah.. but people will still buy it though.. hope they include the controller on the prestige edition too + maybe increase the price a little bit for that..

If anything

what I think they should do is give stuff most people will use and not use to cause mischeif. I say they should make a Veteran edition alongside the Prestige edition and for the same price you get the Hardened edition game with a MW2 Controller and for Xbox 360 a special edition MW2 2.4ghz wireless headset or for PS3 a matching MW2 Bluetooth Headset. Prestige still sounds better but if you think about it Veteran and Prestige are two different things. Veteran and Hardened are difficulties and Prestige is just when you have nothing better to do but start all over again for a simple icon.

milking the money

they are starting to piss me off. i know its a good game, and im excited about it. ive had it on reserve since march, but they are hyping it up as if its the greatest game ever, and its not. if they keep doing this mw as a series will become just like halo or madden (the same game being re-released over and over with a new number behind its name)

Milking for sure

But I'd buy a concave thumbstick controller for PS3 in a heartbeat. I'm probably gonna get a ton of sh*t for saying this on a site mostly filled with Sony lovers, but I don't like the DualShock and never have. It feels very uncomfortable in my hands, the convex sticks just don't work as well as the concave sticks on the 360 pad, and the rounded "triggers" if you can even call them that are terrible. Whoever makes a PS3 controller with pretty much the same features as a 360 pad (minus the sh*tty d-pad) gets my money

4 shooter i agree

thats why i bought r2 n l2 add on triggers...very comfortable. but when i play sf4 i use my regular ps3 controller...i think the dualshock is good 4 everything other than fps games

Thanks

Just googled that and found the trigger add-ons, buying them ASAP. I also found some thumbstick grips which add little bumps, my fingers kinda slip on them. And a mod to actually put Xbox sticks in a PS3 controller, but I don't wanna risk my $55 DS3

Hm

Since when is success synonymous with milking? If someone has a good idea they aren't going to ditch it for no reason. This is business, there is money to be made so they are going to make it. CoD = success for both IW and Treyarch and therefore they're going to do what they can to make money off of it. Because there are people out there who actually want these games. And like it or not they aren't the same games with a new number. They've always been different, even World at War is a bit different from CoD 4 (though I hate the game personally). And the Halo games are even more different from one another. I don't get why so many people get mad when they see a game sequel coming out, its not like they're bringing down the gaming industry by releasing more, so if you don't like it ignore it. Also if it pisses you off seeing a company "milking" a franchise then stay off the internet and stop complaining because its futility at its strongest. Anyway, I'm curious to see how the controls look, I may even buy one but I think the 360 control is fine for shooters as is, and if they're gonna pick another company I'd say Logitech because Madcatz is garbage.

...

are they going to make a controller like the wiizapper?.. yuck..
by Plaztek98 - 2009-07-22 07:41:59
agreed

instead they should do something simple like add a mute-in-lobby button so we dont have to hear morons with mics on breathing and talking to every body except the people whos playing the game

.

Like I said in another article, this is annoying but it's business. They're good at making crappy games yet selling them to millions and getting rich in two seconds, so why stop? They know how to use the hype machine and the best way for them is to show off tons of merch for eager fans to buy on day one. Whether everyone likes it or not, CoD MW2 is gonna sell like 2 billion copies in the first week. Hell, even *I* will (now) buy it just because all my e-friends will get it. I'll take the standard edition please. This controller, pics are needed. I'm not getting it, but it'll probably just be a standard DS3/360 pad with a fancy skin on it with slightly modified buttons. Lol, I had the mental image of them making a Guncon-like peripheral where CoD Hammer Legion members will post tons of YT vids showing their badass skills.

Oh Boy

No thank you. I'll keep the controller design that I've used since the PSOne days.

lets see them focus on anti hacking first

lets just see if they can stop all this cod hacking first before they spend money on gadgets, lets get the code right, then celebrate with gadgets.
