Mission accomplished, Snake: Konami predicts double profits |

Despite relatively poor sales all around as the economic crisis comes into full swing, Konami feels that they'll be doing quite well for themselves. Their early financial forecasts are in and they're predicting an increase in profits by as much as 88% from the same sales period last year. That's over US$ 50 million more than last year's US$ 63.7 million. Optimistic perhaps, but they have cause to be thanks to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which was released only last June but has shipped almost 3 million copies worldwide as of August 2008.
Konami also credited its arcade and card game products as significant contributing factors behind their calculations.
Along with the remarkably high profit forecast was an equally impressive expenses forecast. Noted in the same report was a potential 74.8 percent jump on Konami's operating expenses. No word on exactly what they've been shoveling their hard earned money into.
