Mirror's Edge dev praises PS3 cell processor |

In an interview with Videogamer, one of the developers behind Mirror's Edge (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC) has spoken good things regarding Sony's next-gen console. Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment's Sean Decker praised the PS3 cell processor because it has been able to let DICE studio push the resolution of the textures to a higher level.
Decker mentioned that "thanks to the incredible processing power of the PS3", the company has been able to craft and develop its" vision of what the game really is."
Decker was asked on what the cell processor has been able to do for the studio. He replied that there a lot of little things that they liked with it. One prime example would be the Sixaxis controls they have implemented in the game. But over all, Decker said:
The other thing is the Cell really allows us to push the resolution of our textures much higher and we've taken full advantage of that as well. So there's a lot of little quirks to it that we really like and our engineers love as well as our designers.
When he was asked about the other versions of the game for the Xbox 360 and PC, Decker replied with "each one is different." He explained that they wanted "to balance out what's most important in this game and how you want to bring that out in each one of them." So, if the PS3 version will have stunning graphics, the other versions might highlight something else.

I'm surprised that no fanboys took advantage of this article... There should already be a throng of back and forth pointless diatribes, between PS3 advocates and Xbox 360 defenders...

It's not really shocking that the fanboys hasn't started bragging on eachothers consoles since the article crearly says that the PS3 is going to be able to render textures at a higher resolution than the 360. You see everytime a fanboy starts to brag, they always need something to fight back with. Just wait until they announce something that the 360 is going to have and not the PS3. For example maybe exclusive DLC. Then it's like "Oh the 360 version is much cooler cuz it's going to have DLC and stuff who gives a damn about graphics!?"
It's almost always the 360 camp that starts the fight cuz deep inside they know the PS3 is much more powerful and has better spec so they have to help up their own console just because instead of realize fact.
Note that i have both consoles and stand neutral in this matter. This is not fanboyism. I hate fanboys.
Maybe the 360 version will have better rumble support.
The fanboys won't be here until they announce the specific features for each version.
ummm tooo busy playing PS3 then actully talking about it all ready. B.S for to years to these 360 anboys its just not worth it anymore they no what the ps3 can do and DLC is not importin when u think about it u pay 8 dollard a month on live then u pay another 10 on DLC thats cool 360 is cool. and mirros edge looks more like free running game to me why do they add guns to it makes no sence but. like i was saying too busy your looking to see me comment to crap . xbox was planned and manufactured to have a high proccessing power each at 3.2 GHz, while sony has a total of 3.2GHz processor... same old story, they put alot of horsepower in the car, but they dont get the highest speed.... same with the xbox, they put the highest processors, but they dont get the best preformance, simple... the xbox was rushed...
the ps3 took its time and in the end it has the best preformance, its has a power of 3.2GHz, yet it outpreforms the xbox with everything. Personaly i own all the consoles, the only console that satisfied me was the ps3 (Y)...
Remember what Hideo Kojama said ( sorry for the spelling ).. we've took the ps3 too far...so far it hasnt fullfilled my needs

It would still be classified as an FPS though. Or at least a sub-genre of FPS. This isn't the first game to be an FPS without guns or actual shooting of any kind, but then again it might feature those things.

Not surprising to see a quote come out like this from a PLAYSTATION DAY event! Still interesting to see the comparsions of this game when it comes out, but PS3 fans will be dreaming if they expect major differences between the PS3 and 360 version. All the other differences between other multiplatform games are nit picky at best.

No. It doesn't work that way.
The trailer for this game was pretty cool.
No one got the news that the game DOES have guns in it?
You can steal it from the enemies. But it makes you slow down depending on what gun you have. So if you pick up a shotgun you might not be able to make those big jumps across buildings.
The game looks intresting, we'll see how this one go's. So far I like what I see, and the music too.
