Microsoft throws down the gauntlet at Sony: our first-party games are better than yours |

Trash talk is common in any industry, and it's healthy since it sparks a sense of competition. Besides, it's entertaining.
Don't know if you guys remember, but Sony's Peter Dille took some pot shots against the Xbox 360's hardware last year (read more about it in the related articles below). Well now, it's Microsoft's turn, this time taking pot shots at Sony's games. They should just sling mud at each other and get it over with.
Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Game Studios, has thrown down the gauntlet. Speaking at an interview, Spencer pitted the Xbox 360's line-up of first-party games against the PlayStation 3's own, saying:
Let's start from the beginning of both consoles - PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 - which first party has had more success on their own platform? We have Gears, Halo, Forza, we're continuing to push existing IP while bringing new IP to market. I'll line up against Sony's first party any day
Well someone's getting ready for a festive holiday. Looks like the Christmas season will be another fierce battlefield for the two competitors. He's not finished though. I don't know if he's still taking pot shots at Sony with this comment but... you be the judge:
We talk about our games when we understand what they are. I'm not going to put a billboard up on stage and say, "Boy, I hope you buy this game when it comes out and when I know what it is..."
We talk about games when we know what they are, when we can guarantee the quality to the customers, and we'll say when they're going to come out - I think the customers want that.

gran turismo first of all, theres no "d" if you've ever played it you'd know. second of all gran turismo prologue? seriously, they're gonna charge their customers for a demo? the forza demo was free, and what? the future is blu if u watch movies and green if you know how to play a videogame
Microsoft is always going on about what the current games are, not about future releases. What we will most likely be seeing, are seeing or already have from sony and their developers: Yakuza 3 Metal Gear Solid 4 Little Big Planet Gran Turisimo 5 "Team ICO's new game" God of War 3 (cmon theres bound to be) Wipeout HD Siren Blood Curse Socom Confrontation also if that doesnt cut it, what about the already decent ps2 games that are out, they beat 360 games anyday.
If you've ever played Gran Turismo Prologue sqrl175, you would know that it is not a demo and contains more content than many full priced racing games. The future is blu for games too, much more than green this holiday season.

... the head of Microsoft Games Studios doesn't know the difference between exclusive and first party. Also worrying, the fact this guy could only list three first party games (actually two, since Epic is not first party n00b, but I'll count it since Fable 2 looks awesome and that's first party). Thing is, Microsoft only own two good studios now (Rare, Lionhead), three if you don't think Forza is crazy boring. But Sony own tonnes of studios all over the planet, I can name four first party games coming out for the PS3, just made by English studios (Eyetoy, Singstar, Wipeout, Motorstorm).

...I would be seriously concerned about the number of times that my execs drag out the names "Halo" and "Gears". --Is there *really* anything else significant to many people? (I would replace Forza with Test Drive Unlimited; but that's *me*.) Sony 1st Party titles: Motorstorm & Motorstorm Pacific Rift Heavenly Sword Gran Turismo Prologue Resistance & Resistance 2 Warhawk Little Big Planet Killzone 2 Let's not forget PSN-only titles (which are *real* games, not "Arcade" mini-games): WipeOut HD PAIN Monsters & Eden The Last Guy Siren And although not a 'game' in the truest sense of the word, one has got to mention: Home --You can't tell me those cutesy Mii-like figures & complete UI replacement introduced at E3 aren't a *direct* response to Home. MS is running scared of that, I believe.

iI dont know how MS is saying all this... imean yea there comin out with GoW2... but we have Resistance 2 to take that out... we have a baddd a** lineup comin out know... not to mention that next year will not be badd for PS3 either.... we have Blu-Ray. MS could say all they want, in the end... we will see who will come to be #1.... but MS has no room to talk about us going down.. if we go down... we will put a fight and brong 360 with us if not they will go 1st
if EuroGamer gave Wipeout 9/10, wouldnt that mean something like 15/10 in reality? We all no eurogamer...
xbox was powerful and played halo2 and MPs. PS2 gamers just seem to allow it but was happy with it. gamecube?...

i love using MS products. but that was just B$. IMO. the only reason why the 360 got more followers is because it got released earlier than the PS3. so what would a dying Hardcore gamer do. Go with the 360 to enjoy the HD gaming experience. and because its an M$ product. and why was M$ so popular than linux, mac, etc. because it was the first to be introduced worldwide. so its just a matter of who came first. I'm really surprised how the PS3 and Wii managed to cope up with the competition with the 360 despite of its 1year(i think?) advantage. and about the games. i know Halo is a good game. i've played it and i think its really good. but is that it? that's all M$ has? btw. i dont get paid for this. :)
Yes... M$ proprietary games are far cooler, more well designed, and generally better than Sony's ones.... But i Don't actually remember the last time Sony Brought out a Game.... Like PS1 or something. Sony does have some subsidiaries (Such as London Studio, Naughty Dog and Polyphony Digital) of which the games could easily be put Up against M$ (considering "Spence" is also talking of their subsidiaries. i.e. Bungie) Forza Compared to GT series is a JOKE. The game is Unrealistic and generally ***** (just quietly, i am downloading it now, but just cause my 500gb HDD is feeling hungry) But i have happly gone and purchased every GT game that has been released in my homeland. Jack and Daxter is quite a Fun game, and I know of Nothing from "Microsoft Game Studios" or subsidiaries that compares really. Also there is NOTHING on 360 that compares to the fun to be had from Singstar and Eyetoy from LONDON. Ok... so 3rd Person Shooters are well better on 360 (although i LOVED Resistance, A.I. was *****y though), but if i want a 3rd person, i want to be close to my screen, so PC and handle that (50" is way too much to be close to, and most M$ exclusives go to there anywho) Also Mr rakizta77. If i were a dying gamer, i would like to have a system that would continue to entertain my family after i was gone, so they can remember me, not a system that would probably Red Ring, while i was playing, and die with me. Or one where i would have to get up and change discs every time i pass a level. Comfort in gaming - Get PS3. Also, a time advantage can only be had if you are not having to repair *****ty gamers *****ed machines every time a decent game that tests the HW of the system comes out. Sony has had their share of screwups, but M$ has had everyones share and more... Lucky the Boss is a Billionaire, eh. Just proves they should have waited and made the thing work, rather than prereleasing a peice of ***** (cast your minds back to the Dreamcast anyone? Not so much a bad machine, just not thought out well) Anyones thoughts.... is the 360 the new Dreamcast, just a little more lucky in the fact that it brought Console Gaming into the HD era, that's why it's still lasting the distance (taht and an immense amount of backing from a company that has the world in a stranglehold in the PC market.) I think so... BTW. I paid Sony to say this :p
first off ... if YOU ever played Gran Turismo!!! (i own every one fool {sept prologue ...... cuz im poor}) you would never compare it to forza , its on a different level entirely but what would you know you OBVIOUSLY aren't aware that bluray is a superior format to dvd9 in almost every way possible meaning you OBVIOUSLY did no research when purchasing your console ........ meaning you F A I L meaning my d*** is still bigger than yours :D +1 internets to me
We all know what MS THINK they are but they don't know what they are there just the little school boy that walks around with the Big Bully PS3. Now we got PlayTv coming out i bet they will release XboxTv or XTV and say it was there idea first! MS Should go sit in a corner and just stare at the wall then maybe the then they wont keep embarrassing themselves!
OR their games... they can stick them where the sun don't shine for all I care. I hope M$ fails in this generation and never comes back to compete in the gaming market. they can't beat apple at making music players or operating systems. I realise there needs to be a standard operating system and right now MS is it, but hope MS never becomes the same monopoly in gaming that it is in personal computing.
everyone just remember that most xbox games are also for the pc. so most of the exclusives are on the pc.
kratos is stupid. but god of war is awesome. kratos is the worst spartan ever. begs for power instead of dieing in the battlefeild. kills his family, then blams in on the gods. wants to forget what he has done, so he will have no remorse. then he goes after the gods cause zeus dont want him anymore. he defies everything casue he is a horible spartan. but the game play is fun, and thats y i play games.
To the holiday season, where every year each major company says they are better than the other one. I can't believe some people are so angry over this, when I saw it I laughed; each company does this every holiday when they have big titles coming out. However, I do find one thing very odd - why, during a season with other big 1st party titles (such as fable 2) does MS choose to mention two games that came out last year. I would have said, we have games like gears, fable, and yeah I guess Halo (since its so big). This is just common practice for the major companies, it'll happen next year too, so be prepared (we'll probably hear from Sony in the next couple of days in response....)
I didn't like God of War either. Just because YOU like a game doesn't mean everyone else has to. That's a Mr. Common Douche Bag theory.

I play God of War on the PS when it first came out. I return to wal-mart to get something else. so excise me. I did play it douche bag!
