People at microsoft are really weird. First that aaron dude said they don't force consumer to buy thing that they don't need and now there this article saying that add on makes money.

those are not contradictory statements.



it's like aluminum rims for a car, they save weight and in turn gas... car makers offer different "trim" levels for the people that want them...



if they would sell a ps3 with no hdd they could move alot more, especially to techs like me.

when will evryone realize its not about the customer? all MS wants is da profit... i bet that it costs them 40$ to build a 360... now they are doing the whole add on deal because it will make more money. Here is the thing, MS could put all the add ons into their system, and they could make it easier for a gamer to start playing the moment they open the box, but WHY WOULD THEY. when instead they will sell a system that is probably worthless for 200$ and then all the addons for an extra 200-300$. That way all the idiots go out and buy the"cheap system" and then end up having to buy all the add ons. And dont tell me those add ons are not needed becuz they are...unless ur a 8 yr old and u dont need online or even a hdd. Thats business people, and thats how Ms mooches off of people

exactly. $100 for a 20gb hard drive is ridiculously overpriced. I spent less than that to buy a 320gb hard drive for my PS3. SIXTEEN TIMES the amount of storage space, for about the same price, slightly less. And selling you a wireless controller, and battery seperately? wtf? I buy a DualShock3 and it has a battery built in...

now i'm no fan boy of either but i own the ps3 simply because i prefer play station. in short it was a decision i made when i play my first ever rpg, final fantasy ix ( sry folks i played vii first and haven't played eight yet..) at that time playstation was the console to have if u wanted to play a decent rpg on console. when ps2 and xbox can out i stuck with Sony and move on to ps2 and enjoyed playing ffx and even got a buzz from ffxii ( im sure now you've all gathered that i'm a final fantasy fan, at least vii-xii fan anyhow minus the sequel and the online crap.) the point i'm trying to make tho is that is in the end its about preference.... and finding the bargain does influence your preference believe it or not. MS strategy is the give u the cheaper compatible console but completely butt rape u later one while Sony's is the give it to u all at once but cripple u until next pay check ( although if your smart you save your money or better yet trade in your ps2 along with games and get your ps3 for 169$ like i did at game stop, now that's called bargain shopping). Apparently a lot of people like to be butt raped and that's cool, to each his own i guess but never the less ms is raking in serious profit because they're obviously very adept in the skill of but raping. seriously tho silly analogies aside ms knows what they're doing and its paying off and i can't be too mad at them for doing what they intentionally set out to do and that is make money, not make costumers happy but to make lots of money and cripple competition. i applaud them only because they've set a goal and they're succeeding. the end. there ya go xbox fanboys, there's your cookie but that's all ya get from me. to my brethren, also known as people with money fret not cause the ps3 will pick up more momentum, like all good things this will take time. the ps2 is the perfect example, because no matter what analyst , fanboy or anyone says the one thing that cant be disputed is the ps2 success cause when you look around, you can't help but to ask where are the gamcubes or the xboxs, despite the fact that the previous generation has a trend of being integrated into the next sony has been able to keep both of their previous generations on the shelf along the next generation in succession. i would assume that its their backup or safe net so to speak so they don't get completely wiped out of the console competition. the fact of the matter is that sony isn't going anywhere anytime soon and despite what so called analyst say ps3 is still building momentum slowly but surely. So chin up folks cause it'll be and interesting year by far. the ffxiii isn't half bad idea considering that both actually have had a considerable amount of time sent on them hint hint ;) we finally get to see a game ported from blue ray to hd disks. seriously i cant wait to see the results and the wake faces of people that start to realize the the greatness of ps3. also on the plus side developers are in fact finally solving that mystery that is the blue ray, which means finally we can get decent reviews from our third party games. apparently its easier to port down from the superior blue ray than it is to port from the hd disk. anywho kudos to ms for the biggest gang bang butt rape ever and hang in there sony cause we don't all like it rough.

I own a PS3, but i think that Sony is just pissy the 360 is kicking it's lower posterior. (But this is all opinion: better controllers, better games, better sale prices etc,.) because I [KNOW] the PS3 is more powerful and reliable than the Xbox 360.
