Microsoft dishes out US$ 8 million marketing budget for holidays

Who says the Christmas spirit doesn't include some healthy competition? Microsoft has announced that it's dishing out GBP 4 million (US$ 8 million smackeroos), thus matching Sony's own marketing budget in the UK.

The greater part of that budget will be going into TV advertising (which has already been running for a few weeks) and delivering the message that "with over 300 games [...] there really is something for everyone" says Microsoft's Stephen McGill.

The theme for this year is "bringing friends and families together."
