MGS4 still a PS3 exclusive: So much for the rumors |

CVG reports that a Konami representative has informed them that "Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time," and that the adored and anticipated stealth game will still be "exclusive to PlayStation 3."
Well, so much for the rumors and the speculation that circulated this past weekend. The rumor went that the MGS installment will branch out onto multiple platforms as Konami was worried that there won't be enough PS3's in circulation when MGS4 hits the shelves.
Of course, it is a bit unwise to rule out cross-platform versions of the game in the long term, but for the immediate future, unless Konami does a back-flip, it seems that Snake is solidly with Sony.

Playstation 3, Xbox 360, at least one editorial news to shut flamers up.

And what did they expect? A Konami representative to say "Yes it will be on the 360..er...I mean no..er...DOH!".
Homer Simpson doesn't work for Konami, therefore no-one is going to slip up IF the game is going to be on the 360, because right now, the official word is that MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive. This will continue to be the case no matter how many times reporters ask them!
IF it is coming to the 360, then Konami will announce it when the time is right.
We'll just have to wait and see.

Then thay sau exclusive. At this time is what they have to say, in the future, maybe in a couple fo years, they'll make a 360 version. They say at this time, to keep their options open.
They could have said what others have said about exclusives in the past and simply say the game is exclusive and that they have no plans for any other versions.
You only keep your options open if you have plans for other versions in future. And if you have plans for other versions, then the time scale is anyone's guess. It could be years, but then again, it could be months.

No plans "at this time." The contract they have with sony probably keeps them from announcing it until a certain date. MGS2 was supposed to be PS2 exclusive, remember? Could be exclusive, could not be, who knows? There's already enough shooters for XBOX 360, this one just has a good story behind it.
of course they say, "at this time" if during '07 the ps3 ultibombs, and there is a bug where it kills you and sony randomly goes bankrupt, and wwIIIII starts and etc. they want SOMEEHERE to offload the extras... DUH!!!!

A Sony rep doesn't make the big decisions. You don't say "we won't ever make a port" if it's not up to you to decide.
Either way, that is a standard response, and is in no way any more of an indication that it's coming to X360 than what we already knew.
Besides, MGS 2 lagged on Xbox, so it's safe to say conversion from PS3 to X360 will be even harder this time.

Mgs4 would not make me buy a 360 and it damn sure would not make me buy a PS3. I don't like the series and I am glad that they wouldn't waste time putting it on 2 systems. The Ps3 and its fanboys need this game.360 owners can do without this one easily.

If you did use your brain for a second, you would realise that MS don't need to start these kind of rumours. If MGS4 is coming to the 360, Microsoft and Konami will announce it when the time is right.
If it was up to MS, they would want the news to come out at a time which will shock gamers. As it is, with all the rumours going around, if MGS4 is announced for the 360, not many gamers are going to be that surprised!

I asked Razgoull earlier to say what he expected Konami representatives to say when asked about a 360 version for MGS4.
He hasn't answered. Therefore perhaps you could say what you expect a Konami representative to say about a game which has not been announced for the 360.

Just because a popular game is released on another console, it doesn't guarentee automatic success.
The quality of the port, the age of the game before release, competition with other games on the market, the time of year for release, reviews, the size of the user base, etc, and MANY more factors ALL can effect game sales.
So this idea that because MGS2 didn't fly off the shelves on the XBox means MGS4 will not come to the 360 is nonsense. If it doesn't come to the 360, then it doesn't, but it's not because of MGS2 which was 4 years ago LAST gen!
And stop lumping fans and fanboys together. There's a big difference between the two for ALL consoles, and you should know that by now!

As for MGS2, my point was it didn't even come close to selling well. Forget flying off the shelves, it sold badly.
And you are right, there are other factors that go into the success of ports. but considering how successful the MGS franchise is HISTORICALLY, many people were surprised by the lack of a response it got form the xbox crowd

MGS4 has been built around the ps3 and blu-ray. Even if it was a possibility for xbox360, Kojima has stated that he would make a new game, specifically for the system. Depending on the success of MGS4 on PS3, they might try porting it, but by then most Sony fanboys wont even give a *****, seeing as they've all finished it 4 times over. Cant wait for this game.

Let's compare the it with Konami's statement;

It's EXACTLY the same kind of statement. As some have said above (i.e. those with brains), it's a standard responce which proves NOTHING.
We all know what happened to Assassin's Creed, despite all those insisting it was a PS3 exclusive for months (including some of you here right now!), especially after Ubisoft made that statement.
Now I'm not saying this means there will be a 360 version of MGS4, that's not the point here, the point is this statement from Konami is as meaningless and that statement from Ubisoft, and therefore does not dispell the rumours.
And before anyone says, "Oh but this and that...", please compare the statements from Ubisoft and Konami and THEN reply. Thank you.

Firstly, MGS4 will not be built around motion-sensing. It will use the same control scheme that MGS fans know and love with the addition of motion-sensing for specific tasks, all of which can be replicated on a standard controller. Secondly, regarding PSP support, what happens to PS3 gamers without a PSP? Just like motion-sensing, it's an addition to the game, and no way in Kojima going to structure the game so that those without a PSP lose out. It's an optional extra, that's all.
As for reasons why it can't run on 360 or it will be a bad port, I read the same about Assassin's Creed when it was known as a PS3 exclusive. Numerous gamers were coming out with comments about Blu-ray, Cell, AI, physics blah blah blah, all as reasons why it will only run on the PS3. The fact is, WE DON'T KNOW. So we'll just have to wait and see ***IF*** a 360 version is announced, but if it is, then it may be just as good as the PS3 version. Again, wait and see.
I think we all know that there will be a 360 version. It will probably look pretty much the same (The graphics on MGS4 aren't ground breaking lets admit). But I think It'll be way after PS3 release when almost everyone has already completed it.
Can't see this one doing very well on the 360, I'm getting it on PS3 because I like the pad/system more...

Like I was saying earlier, this statement doesn't dispel rumours about MGS4 on the 360 because it's a standard answer given by game companies in such circumstances.
Not once have I said the rumours are true, but I have to laugh at all of those here who are so naive to think this proves anything about MGS4 on the 360, because it doesn't.
So to Spector, Razgoull, truth and even you Mr Toasty, the rumours of MGS4 on the 360 are still around and remain unchanged by this comment from Konami, just live with it.
MGS4 may be announced or the 360 in future, or it may remain a PS3 exclusive, we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm sure the whole xbox 360 community will really be taken aback if and old PS1 game dosen't get to their console.

Bottome line:
IF MGS4 does make it to the 360..... NOBODY will buy it. MGS2 for the xbox didnt even sell that much. The only reason why this is so big is cuz 360 fans want Sony to lose another exclusive...thats all. They dont care for the game.... its the talk that counts.

I highly doubt they'd be developing a 360 version in secretcy. What's the point of developing a game in secretcy in the first place? There is no point so if they say they aren't making one... they aren't making one. Maybe down the road 2 years from now, but not now.
You also can't compare this to Assassin's Creed since Ubisoft is a company that's done almost all cross-platform games. Konami sticks to their guns on exclusives much much more (MGS3 for instance and many others). The 360 version is completely in Kojima's hands anyway, and he's already shown his support towards the PS3 multiple times.

LOL! The rumours NEVER said anything about MGS4 coming out at the SAME TIME as the PS3 version, they simply stated MGS4 was coming out for the 360 and that's it. Nothing more, nothing less.
So who do you think you're kidding?, except yourself perhaps. This was NEVER about the TIMING of a 360 version and you know it! The rumours are simply about MGS4 coming to the 360, not WHEN a 360 version will emerge.

But ignoring all the insults, I have to say I'm with ABC on this one Spector.
Let me remind you of what you said;

You clearly state the rumours of MGS4 on the 360 are wrong and we shouldn't read anything into the phrase "at this time", in otherwords don't think it means it's coming to the 360 in the future.
I think the initial question ABC raised was very clear, and I think you did understand it because now you're saying you don't think a 360 version will be launched at the same time as the PS3 version and that a 360 version is possible years later.
You've done a complete '180' on your original post Spector, and because you were not willing to admit you were wrong, ABC smelt blood and moved in for the 'kill'. Hence the strong words, on both sides.
I know it's hard but it's always best to admit when you're wrong and move on. If you'd done so Spector you may have found the outcome was very different, because there's now common ground between both of you on this issue.
And ABC, thanks for the acknowledgement of my earlier post, but you handled this thread all wrong. Being aggressive and insulting doesn't help a discussion along, it has the opposite effect. So whilst you may feel you've 'won' this arguement, you've actually lost in terms of getting your message across. Try a bit of diplomacy next time.

inferiority complex when they are obsessed with their weaknesses. They always keep thinking that others are superior to them. They often get nervous while talking to others - especially if the opposite person is talking confidently.They perspire, their mind gets clouded and speaking normally becomes a herculean task for them. Inferiority complex becomes their biggest hurdle on the way to success or progress.
Try go get a life instead of worrying about the color of a games console,you may even meet normal people who will actually want to talk to you,but one thing "just don't mention that you would not buy a games console because of it's color because if you do they will suss straight away about your inferiority complex".

MGS4 it's a bit like the Rocky films they just go on and on and on and on and on and on.
With the large sales of the 360 and the Wii I find it hard to believe this games will be an exclusive and with the January sales to come and no PS3 but plenty of Wii and 360 consoles(+Gears of Wars huge sales developers will want a piece of this) come March most people will proberbly own one or both of those Two consoles already
and I doubt they will want to or not able to afford another.
Funny thing was capcom were the same about Resident Evil 4 when the rumors come out it might go to PS2. They were like no no still a gamecube exclusive. Then they announced a ps2 version 2weeks before RE launch on Gamecube
