Metal Gear Solid 4: release date, 80 GB PS3 bundle revealed |

As expected, more details about Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots were revealed at the recent retailers only conference Destination PlayStation. According to the press release, the game's specific release date as well as a new PlayStation 3 bundle will be heading your way sooner than you think.
Konami and Kojima Production's Metal Gear Solid 4 will be released for the PlayStation 3 in Q2 of 2008. While details on an exact release date were not announced, website Kotaku's sources seem to have pinned it to June 12,2008. The same date that an issue Famitsu supposedly reports.
Those who haven't picked up a PlayStation 3 yet, or have enough cash to pick up a new one, may be interested to know that Sony Computer Entertainment is planning a hardware bundle for the game which will launch in the second quarter of the year for US$ 499.99. The pack will have a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4, an 80 GB PlayStation 3, and a DualShock 3 controller.
These two new details had quite a number of MGS4 fans here at the office cheering. Stay tuned for more updates regarding this as we get them.

No Dualshock 3 in the U.S. until June? I guess I've been too anxious waiting for Home that I had forgotten about waiting for the Dualshock 3. I hope Home is released before then, so it will take the edge off my Dualshock 3 hunger pangs while I wait for it.

I've had a Dualshock 3 since the Japanese launch. They were $80 with shipping on Play Asia.
And damn, I really hope that release date is going to be solid. But one thing I'm really wanting with Mgs4 (obviously) is Metal gear online. I really cant wait to get some kills ^_^.
The first Metal gear online was about the best online game I've ever played to date (including cod4, resistance, and others).
it just comes in the bundle.. not that it will release in the same time as MGS4....

Whats the battery life on DS3? Is it less than SISAXIS?
I'd say the life is about the same. I can't say for sure, but it's by no means short.
But that controller is awesome. You realize how great the extra weight feels.
Why would they discontinue the 80GB model only to bring it back in a different bundle? They should have bundled it with like a 120GB at least, because 120GB looks a lot bigger than an 80GB and the cost difference is minimal. I just don't get Sony sometimes.

I recently had my second 360 red ring. and since it was an elite unit. I took it back got a refund and got a 40 gig ps3 instead. I would have gotten an 80 gig but I could'nt find one anywhere, i',m a little pissed about the ps3 bc not being there. but even my 40 gig ps3 blows away anything the 360 could have done. still. i've only had my ps3 for like two days now. whats all this dual shock 3 stuff about? I will admit the ps3 controller the sisaxis one feels really cheap. but if all the dual shock controller offeres is the rumble feature. i'm not sure I want to go out and buy two more controllers at 50 bucks a pop. I mean, i could do with or without the rumble feature to be honest.
I guess this is the new SKU that everyone was so hyped up over. It's a great deal, even if you dont like MGS.
Is it going to be a standard PS3 or will it be MGS4-themed? I'm assuming no, since they'd probably mention it, but sweet deal nonetheless. I'll be picking it up if I have the money

Put it this way... they are selling the 80GB PS3 at the same price WITH MGS4 and a Dualshock 3... I wouldn't complain lol.
It only makes sense, sell the system with a system seller. Has anyone seen the best buy package? ps3 is starting to pick up steam, and with that steam more developers will stop bellyaching and start churning out what i bought it for, a damn fine game.
I think the dualshock 3 has the same battery as the sixaxis, so if vibration is enabled it's slightly less.
Definately worth getting this controller. So much better than the wiimote and even better than the 360's controller, although it has stronger vibration.
So glad the wait is finally over. Another three months is like nothing compared to what we've been put through. I can't wait...
Haze, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 2, Killzone 2... I thought shooters were supposed to the 360's specialty?

you dont need to buy it or anything, but its a nice little add on. But I think it feels way better with some weight in the controller and obviously the vibration.
Not being fanboyish, but for 3rd person shooter wise I'd take metal gear over gears anyday. Actually I'd take metal gear over lots of games out there.
