Looking at the video, Snake may be past his prime, but he's definitely learned some new tricks that only experience (as well as some new toys) can teach. For instance, adaptive camouflage that lets Snake blend in to any surface he's pressed on, as well as new CQC maneuvers to knock soldiers unconscious. This might be Snake's last hurrah in the field, but he's definitely armed and ready to take anything on. Oh, and watch out for the Drum Can!

The game play looks outstanding, but I hope there's an option to turn off sixaxis aiming though, that could end up being very frustrating if your in a heavy battle or something.
we can feel the tension in the air, too bad we can't "feel" it with rumble. Still, the motion sensors will be really usefull in the game, it's looking awesome. I loved the others, but this one will be really different, this time you have to think FAST, and ACT a lot

Of course it will run better, just like every other port game. You wont get those washed out colors or framerate issues youll get with the ps3. No installing a game before you can play it, and youll even have rumble!

I downloaded the HD version from gametrailers.com.
Looks good, not spectacularly good, but still very good. The graphics have been toned down since it's first realtime showing (noticeable in the cutscene too, including the hair), but it's MGS and fans will lap it up. I don't think it will convert those who didn't like the previous games in the series, but it's a must have for MGS fans. :)

Upon release (November 2001), Halo was as good as any PC FPS, and better in many ways. Until Halo, no FPS had seamless intergration of indoor and outdoor environments, together with land and air vehicles (with great driving/flight dynamics), advance physics and superb AI (even better than Half-Life). Which PC FPS provided all of this when Halo was released? The answer, none, they all offered subsets of that list. Since Halo, many games have offered all of this, and we expect much of this in today's FPSs, but Halo was the first to provide such a seamlessly integrated gaming world in a FPS.
Also, the PC isn't a console, so games going to PC are not an issue (just as UT3 on the PC is not a problem for the PS3 version).

Why does AoxomamoxoA want it to go multiplatform when he supposedly owns a PS3 as well. Besides we all know you and every other Xbot in the world could care less about this game. I find it hilarious when an Xbot says "I want games like Lair, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted Drake's Fortune and MGS4 to go multiplatform because all I have is a 360" And that's the problem right there. Looks fantastic! This is what next gen is all about! A big WOW to the Metal Gear team. This is going to be a fun game to play. Being the last Metal Gear game it's going to be interesting to see what happens.

Well, the only reason so many 360 owners assume it'll come out on the 360 is because they want it so much. But you can go to Kotaku and read that Sony actually cut a deal with Konami to make sure it was exclusive. Because up till a little before E3, the exclusivity was actually up in the air(360 version was a possibility). But I guess that's all changed. If you guys have so much time to make inflammatory remarks about a stupid videogame system, go spend that time working and earning money instead. Then you can buy any games/systems you want. Stop asking your mom's to buy you games.
Yes I know Halo is on the PC as well, but it arrived 2 YEARS after the XBox version, and Halo 2 took 2.5 years to arrive on the PC (Vista only). 2 years is a long time in gaming, so of course it's going to suffer compared to PC FPS at the time of release, but that doesn't change what Halo did for FPSs upon it's release in 2001.
Anyway, given the previous games, I guess we could look forward to Halo 3 on the PC in about 2009/2010. ;)

Is there anything said there to say whether it's a TIMED exclusive or not? I don't believe so. It's exclusive to the PS3 for now. If they went ahead and said it's a timed exclusive, then that would automatically tell us that other versions are in the works! Therefore until any other announcements are made, they will keep insisting that it's a PS3 exclusive.
Hence nothing has really changed since E3 regarding the possibility of MGS4 on the 360. We'll just have to wait and see.

Halo has as much chance of appearing on the PS3 as Killzone has of appearing on the 360. Gamers know this, they know those games are 100% guarenteed not to move onto another console, therefore no-one is 'crying' for these games on opposition consoles.
However, MGS4 on the 360 is a possibility (just like DMC4 before). Hence because of all the rumours, and because it IS possible, gamers are going to want this game for the 360. They are not 'crying' for Killzone, they are not crying for GT5, but MGS4, that just might happen.
I guess while AoxomamoxoA, Xman and the REAL MCS are having their little 3way xbot lovefest posers like you have to try and fill up the trolling void they leave behind...

Vehicles were not introduced into the UT series until 2004 (3 years after Halo), and Quake 3 didn't have any vehicles at all. Neither had great advanced physics, and again in 2001, neither had the integration of indoor and outdoor environments implemented as seamlessly and on a scale seen in Halo.
I'm simply stating the possibility, not that I WANT it to appear on the 360, since I would probably be playing it on a PS3 anyway....eventually... (I'm waiting for a 'proper' price drop before I purchase a PS3, and waiting for 65nm processors in the 360 before I purchase the console...probably next year for both).
In Halo, within the environments, you could run and walk over them (of course) both inside and outside, you can also drive over them (both inside and outside) and you could fly over them (both inside and outside). No other FPS offered this back in 2001.
Deny it all you want but the PS3's 2008 lineup looks very strong indeed.
As for Heavenly Sword, you may compare it to God of War, but the last time I checked, GoW was a Playstation exclusive. So gee, I guess PS3 gamers will have to make do with GoW3 in future *if* Heavenly Sword is not as good as some hope.

this is a stealth action game and one of the best its going to be... the camo suit is an innovative idea and no other stealth games has utilised it so far...

Tribes was released late 2000 (a little over a year before Halo, not YEARS before) and it was an online ONLY game. There was no single player mode and therefore NO advanced AI. So we can discount that game as offering all that I listed.
Tribes 2 was release early-mid 2001, and the main change there was the addition of a very limited single player game, which was really just a tutorial for the multiplayer game, using bots (think UT) with simple AI. This was all to prepare the gamer for the main game ahead, the multi-player online mode.
So as I said, it still offers a subset of that list I provided for Halo, but yes, I conceed that Tribes 2 is *very* close. Of course, if you feel it's more than that (I didn't actually play Tribes 2), then it's one game by a few months (not years), and even then it's a game with a VERY limited single player game, i.e. a tutorial, hence limited appeal. Therefore there was still no FPS like Halo upon it's release.
Tribes Vengeance (2004) was the first in the series with a full single player game (it used EPIC's Unreal Engine I believe).
Release Novemver 1998 according the the website I found, so you right that it was released years earlier, but wrong that it included all that I listed, since it was multiplayer only.
But thanks anyway, it was interesting to find out more about the game (in fact I'm going to download the Tribes 2 demo to see for myself) :)

it cant run on 360... the 360`s hardware isnt powerful enough... not only that but the 9.8gb or whatever of the 360`s double layer dvd isnt enough space for the game`s contents... and also kojima-san said that it is built from the ground up to run on the ps3`s cell... if it were to come out on 360, it wouldnt run very smoothly, would be released on 2+ discs, and would take a year for it to be ported... microsuck`s console doesnt have the processing power to match the ps3`s cell... the 360 has reached its limit... but the ps3`s hardware hasn`t been fully utilized yet... ps3 has alot of untapped power and alot of potential... xbots stop hating on sony... i know i can be a fanboy sometimes, but i dont always hate on the 360... i like it i just think that micro***** puts too much faith in games like halo and gears... also remember... micro***** is known to swallow ppls money... the 360 still has hardware problems almost 2 years after release... my ps3 and wii havnt broken on me, overheated, crashed, or even froze... i trust sony and nintendo for making sure their hardware is reliable... micro***** halfasses everything, and they always demand money... they always demand huge sums of money for something that shouldnt cost so much...

can even be called that) than their is hardcore gamers. i mean anyone that thinks bejeweled is a 'challenging' game will not buy a 360 or a PS3 but will go to the wii anyday cause its cheap and they dont
have the dedication or the skill to play a game like Halo, God of war or Devil may cry 3, so in my opinion

X-box fantards seem to not realize that NO company has money just floating around. If you have a company with let's say, I dunno 15 divisions and subsidiaries, and you have 300 million. That does NOT mean that ALL the divisions have access to the money. The Xbox division of microsoft has a set amount of money for console production, advertising and yes warranties. The reason they are losing money is because they can't just lost 1.5 billion on gaming and expect to take more money out of another division like let's say their operating system division. I'm an automotive technician and I work for toyota. Out Sedan division had way more money than our small truck SuV division. That doesn't mean that our SUV division can just use funding from our sedan division if need be. Hope I made it clear. No "billion dollar check" from the american devil bill gates with sway the mild mannered japanese Hideo Kojima. I mean that in a sense that not everyone can be bought like in the U.S PS3 FTW

Gamers only talk about games which have a possibility of coming to their console, whether these are games officially announced, or games rumoured to be coming to their console. There are no rumours of Halo 3 coming to the PS3, there are no rumours of GT5 going to the 360, and everyone in the industry knows this is not going to happen.

So going back to the hypocrite allegation, and given what I've said above, do explain how I'm being a hypocrite just for talking about MGS4 gameplay and about the rumours of MGS4 coming to the 360?

The gameplay graphics of Call of Duty 4 (for both 360 and PS3 btw) was far more impressive and had far more going on than MGS4. So of course the 360 is powerful enough for this game (both consoles have similar power, or did you not know this because you've fallen for the hype?).

Sorry to say DerDude, but it's terrible (download it and play it yourself, I'm sure you'll agree). The graphics are poor by any standards, even for a PC game of 2001 (and to think Halo arrived on the XBox just months after this game!).
I found no sign of the advanced physics you seem to think is in the game. Yes there's the usual driving/flight model, but that is not advanced physics (you just have to see some of the movies gamers created using Halo to appreciate the physics in that game). The AI is as basic as you can get, again because the single-player game is really just a tutorial for the multi-player game. So no advanced physics, no advanced AI.
So given that this is the nearest to offering what Halo offered, and given that Halo was released just months afterwards, you should be able to appreciate why Halo had the impact it had.
So like I said, FPSs at the time only offered a subset of what we got in Halo, including Tribes. :|
