Hideo Kojima: bringing smiles to otaku faces - Image 1Hideo Kojima is keeping busy. After the release (and success) of Metal Gear Solid 4, he's been out doing an autographing tour, promoting MGS4 and Metal Gear Online in the process. Famitsu was on the case though, reporting two new tidbits of information related to MGO.

First off, Famitsu found out the peak times for MGO use. According to the site, Japan's concurrent usage was pegged at 12,000 players playing simultaneously. Worldwide though, Famitsu reports 100,000 people connecting to MGO, though it didn't mention if they all played at the same time.

Furthermore, Famitsu also noted that the standalone version of Metal Gear Online would go on sale in Japan come July 17 for 1,800 yen (US$ 17).

» metal gear online is good

its an aquired taste you dont just like it nor are you instantly good at it. it has a high learning curve but when your at the top its really good it gets you involved. it really is a game you need to get used to and not just think oh this is rubish because you clearly havent give it a go enough. if after a while you still dont like it then hey its not for everyone

» You Must Suck

The only people who hate MGO, suck at it. I'd hate it too if I got killed all the time. Yeah "the worst online play", how? No lag no frame rate issues. The game play is flawless, just difficult.

Besides isn't it universally accepted that "The Darkness" is the worst online game ever, even though I enjoyed the single player.

» Over hyped

The actual game is so much better. I like MGO and really gave it some play during the beta and official launch, but the lack of customization with the equipment such as the gear you wear, the weapons you use really makes me not want to play the game. Yes I know how to customize in game, but the ability to customize before you launch the game would have been so much better. This is what the MGO is lacking and it would be easy to implement these features in the game. I mean in MGS4 we have so many weapons at our disposal and we are able to customize them and keep them that way. Now some may argue ppl will only use weapons like the rpg or the javelin or the anti material rifle, but that could be overcome by not allowing some weapons and the players will just have to pick their own versions of the weapons available.

You CAN increase the aiming speed..

@ erict7862

I wouldn't call it over hyped but I would say it still could use some work. Customizing your guns out side of a match with drebin points would be great, thats something I really want. I just feels like a few guns still without drebin points enabled. But you should bring that up on the Community support page on MGO rather then here ^_^.

» But

With the single sales of MGO will they give MGS4 owners a reason to buy it ? I have MGS4 and what would make me want this for 17$ extra?
