Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will not feature Raiden as a playable character. This was disclosed by director Hideo Kojima himself but added he will "play an active role in the story..." The reason behind Raiden's non-playable role will be revealed through the course of MGS4's plot. As if you needed another reason to  build up your MGS4 anticipation.

Kojima also threw a couple of bones for the benefit of rabid MGS4 fans regarding the game's setting. MGS4 is set five to 10 years in the future, a time "all of the weapons and war zones are controlled by nanotechnology. And wars have become an industry dominated by "private military companies." Liquid Snake returns as commander of one of these companies, Outer Heaven, wielding "military strength equivalent to the rest of the world's combined power." Meanwhile, the UN sends Solid Snake to the Middle East to foil Liquid's plans.

"Snake's vigor - his existence - has started to wither," relates Kojima. "His face has aged a lot, but he's actually much younger than he seems. His body suffers from accelerated aging because he was born from the genetic engineering project, Les Enfants Terribles."
If that's just the basic storyline think what the actual game would be like!

As for the other Metal Gear alumni, Naomi Hunter will be back after escaping from her Metal Gear Solid captors. Campbell, too,  returns "more vigorous than Snake."  PSone Metal Gear Solid major star, Meryl Silverburgh, will resurface as commanding officer and leader of FOXHOUND.

Will MGS4 be the finale of Snake's adventures? "I had actually intended to complete the series with MGS3," Kojima explains. "I decided to make MGS4 because so many mysteries still remained, and I couldn't ignore all the people who had requested a new game." If enough people ask for MGS5, which is a very likely scenario even at this point when MGS4 has not even be been released, hopefully the master will be as accomodating.

» I know most of that info.

The thing is we dont know if it is liquid snake or ocelot. We will have to find out when we play it. Kojima also said through the story we will found out why raiden looks the way he is.

your dumb as hell, tha reason his name is liguad ocelot is because he is both, liguad snake took over ocelots arm after ocelot lost his, and now liguad snake becomes active when solid snake is around him

» ... man at least write it correctly

MGS4

metal gear solid 4

not MSG4

metal solid gear 4

and man this is bad not to have raiden as a playable character :'( he was so cool in the video, snake was not at all in his environment, he was not able to do even a scratch to the robots, I suppose we just WON'T kill these robots lol, after all, this is a stealth game lol

BUT hideo SHOULD make raiden an unlockable character, this would be very cool, to do the game once more with another player who CAN fight, this would upgrade the value(time before you stop playing) a lot! =D

I agree with ya. They should have him as unlockable character. Why didn't he aske Kojima about the online features. Because I read somewhere that Kojima is planning to add it to the MGS4. It would be awesome if you could use Raiden as a playable character online. Maybe have special online modes for him only.

» #7 just wait till "Subsistincessilation" or whatever

raiden might not be playable now, but just what till kojima releases a "resale" version of the game like in MGS3, how they add a new camera and new modes, and also in mgs2, how they added new playable characters and modes, im now worried at all about it, but damn if raiden aint looking better than snake nowadays, i dont know what does, i mean, in mgs2, i hated that guy

Actually he's calling you dumb because the name was already shown. If you watched the 15m trailer they show his name as liquid snake.
