Major update coming to PlayStation Home next week

home Sony did say that they have 16 million users for PlayStation Home. This goes out to all of them, and those who just aren't very keen on logging into the virtual space. The client will be updating to version 1.4 next week, so you know what that means - features and fixes.

There's a full list coming before the update goes live, but this early, Sony's giving a heads-up on the bigger items on that list. First of all, voice chat will be making its return. No more tedious typing and dodging conversation - it's all free flowing, provided you have a headset.

You will also have the option of creating groups of up to eight people each, and you can chat with its members whether you're in the same space or not.

For those who enjoy dressing up their avatar, the update will also improve the wardrobe system. With at least three simple tweaks, you won't have to wait for stuff to load as you scroll, and loading itself will be made faster.

You will now have the ability to mark items as “Favorites” – making commonly-used items much easier to relocate.
Newly-acquired items (along with categories that contain new items) will be marked accordingly.
Options for filtering and sorting items have been added, giving you greater control over which items you see and how they are displayed.

I've been a beta user since .98 version of Home where Open Mics and Region Hopping was allowed. With the amounts of users, it's nice that Sony is allowing 8 people chat again (not fully open but at least you can chat with your friends in public that way.) If they were to reopen region jumping again it would give more users reason to get on again. There's so many unique spaces per region (japan seems to have some of the best ones) that users just don't know about. A lot of users have gone into the "hacking" portion including myself. I'm an admin on one of the biggest sites as far as Home Hacking goes. By doing that we've managed to make home fun once more. Right now with out all of that it's just the same old spaces and the same old "noobs" over and over. Not much fun. Anyways they finally (after many years) are starting to listen to the users. The amount of clothing can be insane. So orginization is nice. I can't wait to see what else they actually implement this time around. Maybe our RC Cars? Hell the trophy room that we NEVER got would be great. I've worked hard on my trophies - one point being in the top 4,000 rank in the world rankings. It would be great to show that off for once. What home needs is more investors. The more gaming companies along with other companies that get involved in making spaces and objects the more advertising we'll see but I'm o.k. with that. As long as it brings more spaces and fun with friends.

The new apartment would be a hell of alot better if they gave us an option to pick / stream certain videos or video files on the ps3. Wishful thinking I know but Sony knows that this is something we want also!
