In this eight image feature article, tons of information about the game is revealed. This first person shooter developed by Insomniac Games takes place in 1951 when an alien menace known as "The Chimera" invades Earth. » What the hell

Has anyone heard what this game is actually bringing to the table besides pretty graphics and 40 player multiplayer? That's not that impressive, what is this games real selling point, I mean PC and 360 games already go to 32 players, so the additional 8 doesn't make this a MUST have game, I wanna know what they are actually DOING new.

Well there brining some neat monsters vehicles and controller motions into it. Also the story is unique and it has a sweet look..............Its hard to make an fps not like any other to be honest

» motion sensing controller

I think sony's addion of montion sensing to the ps3 controller can truly bring us some monumental changes. Imagine being able to do a 180 degree turn in an FPS with a quick flick of the controller.....

Stop complaining about new games trying out new things all the time. So what if they're running out of ideas? It can still be a great game no matter how many ideas it stole or reused.

» Seems like PSM are extremely exited about this game.

And for good reason. With 155 people team and the budget larger than any of their previous project I would expect this to be the most exiting game for the PS3 for a long time (MSG4, Heavenly Sword, FFXIII).

Gears of War Vs Resistance this christmas season will be an interesting one. Gears of wars has the upper hand in the cool factor and Resistance might just well offer the best FPS gameplay ever. I'll definitely be a happy FPS gamer come November until I get my Halo and Killzone fill next year.

» Its hard

Its hard to do much new with FPS. I mean, besides creating a really great story, the basic gameplay will always be very similar. The changes that come to mind are: graphic updates, new weapons, vechicles, different types of monsters, possibly different controls, and a difference in online play/mulit-player modes. Even still, half of those are still going to be basically the same (new weapons, but the same mechanics involved in how you use them aka sniper type weapons, shotguns, etc).

it's gets harder and harder to wait for that day when more kickass screens of the games i'm looking forward to the most keeping popping up over the internet. Untold Legends, Stranglehold, Resistance, Warhawk, they just keep getting better and better looking. i enjoyed what little i got to play of Resistance, and i can't wait to get a chance to try out the single player campaign, and multiplayer games don't really do it for me. i'm glad developers haven't completely abandoned those that like a solid single player experience. we don't all want to "pwn" people over the net (the few times i've decided to play online were not enjoyable experiences for the most part. people on the net use it as an excuse to be douchebags).

i must admit, however, 40 player matches in this, and 32 player dogfights in Warhawk do sound pretty kickass. at the very least, i'll give those modes a shot and see if i like it, as, come launch, everyone will be on an even keel for the most part in terms of experience with the game.

i cant be bothered to read all that poor quality text..has anyone? does anyone know how the motion stuff will be used in the game?

by KnowLedge - 2006-07-26 10:33
» Now that's a massive improvement.

So they weren't lying when they said that lighting and shader effects were off at E3.

It looks much better now, and can easily stand in one line with GeoW.

I think I'll get that if they'll do the multiplayer part right.

» wow

Thats some pretty awesome stuff! I heard the multiplayer was going to support 40players, that true?

» anyway for all of you who are blind, this is the tilt sensor article:

"USING THE TILT CONTROLLER

The game will make use of the PS/ controller's motion-sesing technology in many different ways. While most of those plans are still a closely guarded secret, Insomniac did share one little gem: when a Chimoran grabs you, you can shake the controller wildly to break free before he takes a bite.

by Fin - 2006-07-26 12:24
» Hmnn

I guess shaking the controller is better than mashing random buttons to get away from grabs and such. I hope the "secrets" will be more intuitive though. For example, I think using the controller in the motion of neck snapping in the coming Metal Gear is pretty neat. I hope that one actually gets implemented.

by SteveTao - 2006-07-26 14:44
» Let's see...

What this FPS will bring is unique weapons. Instead of the stand shotgun and rifle that you've been seeing in every other FPS games. If you have play Ratched before, you know how creative the weapons are and how creative you can use them. With Resistance and its unique usage of weapons, there will more stategy than just pumping lead in everyone's chest with a shotgun all day long.

by SteveTao - 2006-07-26 14:54
» Let's see..

Need I also say that at first, the haters are like, "The graphics sucks." And now that the graphics have improve tremendously, the haters are like, "The gameplay is the same," refusing to actually read the article to find out how the gameplay is actually different because of the unique weapons.

sony as got thier own halo now

by DJ - 2006-07-26 16:54
» I just got this issue of PSM in the mail too.

Spectacular looking game; I never would've never imagined back when i was playing Spyro the Dragon that Insomniac would make THIS kind of game, but i'm so glad they did.

by sherwax - 2006-07-26 17:24
» oh my

oh my here goes Sony's dream of full 60 fps, in HD and with all effects turn on. A self ownage.

by Logic - 2006-07-26 18:03
» To #25...

That is a pathetic statement. The console hasn't even launched yet! This is a launch game coming out the day the Playstation 3 is released. Games will only get better. So don't say stupid, uninformed comments like those.

Yes, Resistance looks awesome. Can't wait to pick it up at launch!

by Muscrat - 2006-07-27 03:48
» :D

This game is shaping up very well, adn is looking WAY better than it did @ E3. ZOMG co-op will ROXORS MY BOXORS.

The original story line, setting and enimies, are really great foundations of this game.

Resistance, MotorStorm, Mercenaries 2, and MGS4 all look like great solid tites. Cant wait to give em a go :D:D
